Karen Perkins reviewed: Create with a gel printing plate in Derbyshire

"Another great course with Liz. Lovely venue and small friendly group. She took us through the steps of planning and executing a gel print ( At least 20 prints as it's super hands on) , techniques, colour choices, adding patterns and plant materials! We got to try all these different ideas and take away a clear knowledge of the potential of gel printing. Can't wait to get going at home now . "

" Hi Karen, Lovely to work with you again and thanks for taking the time to let me know about your day. Gel plate printing is a great, intuitive process, with so many possibilities to explore. There’s also lots of potential to explore it alongside your lino cutting and printing skills. Happy printmaking. Best wishes Liz Wellby "

Ann Blackett reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers

"I thought I wasn't going to get to this course, but the snow receded enough and I reached Liz's studio in steady drizzle - though not enough to hide the stunning view! I had done a little linocut before, but not for years, so this was a gentle and rewarding re-connection. There was a good mix of explanation and hands-on, with a range of tools and materials; it was also very relaxing, focusing on the design, trying to imagine how it would appear in print, concentrating and creating. A good feeling. I could have carried on cutting for hours, but Liz very rightly marshalled (nicely but firmly!) us into the print room, where we produced our prints using very simple equipment, but wonderfully! I came away with a variety of prints in different colours, plus a block I can can develop with more detail at home, where I am even now planning some greetings cards... A really good day. Also, ample tea and biscuits. Thank you, Liz!"

" Hi Ann, Lovely to hear from you and thank you for letting me know about your workshop at The Slipper Studio. It was great to meet and work with you. Lino cutting and printing are such satisfying and interesting processes, that will keep you engaged, interested and inspired for some time. There’s so much to learn, even when you feel pretty confident with what you are doing, there’s always something new to try out. Happy cutting and printing. Liz Wellby "

Jane Nicholson reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers

"The day was perfect. The studio was a beautiful place to learn and Liz gave us a relaxed but comprehensive introduction to lino cutting. We practiced cutting using different lino and tools then planned our main piece. After carefully cutting we started printing and our group produced some beautiful prints. I can’t wait to frame my design and hang it in my dining room. I’m already looking for my next course at the slipper studio! Thank you for a lovely day "

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

" Hi Jane, Lovely to hear from you and thank you for your kind words - I have a big smile on my face. It was great to meet and work with you. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed your day at The Slipper Studio and I feel that you have learnt a lot. This is such a great process, with some many possibilities to develop and explore. I think you’ll find it hard to choose just one of your beautiful prints to hang in your dining room - how about a colourful triptych? You’ll be most welcome for further workshops at the studio. Best wishes Liz Wellby"
