A day of drawing with line and wire in Derbyshire

X

Description

Next promoted date: Wednesday 26th October, exploring Natural Forms. “I sometimes think that there is nothing so delightful as drawing”, Van Gogh. If you agree with Van Gogh and are an experienced artist or count yourself as an absolute beginner, it’s a worthwhile practice to spend time exploring your drawing skills. Join Liz Wellby at The Slipper Studio in a relaxed and supportive environment, for a day of drawing. The venue is beautifully presented, with handcrafted workbenches and a wood burner, with views down into the village. The village of Carsington lies on the edge of the Peak District. Starting with the principle that everyone can draw, you will focus on learning to look, plan your ideas and create a series of drawings. Working on different types of paper and using a range of materials, you will draw natural forms with a particular focus on their linear and pattern qualities. There will also be the opportunity to develop ‘drawings’ using fine flexible wire. There are a choice of themes, including Natural Forms and Kitchenalia, so decide which you would like to explore. This creative workshop is suitable for folks who count themselves as a beginner or those who haven’t drawn for a while and may feel the need to brush up on the basics. About the tutor Liz Wellby is a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 25 years she has lived and worked.
