Kathy Simkin reviewed: Beginners spoon carving

"Our teenage son and his friend thoroughly enjoyed their recent beginners spoon carving day. It was great for them to have a go at something completely different and learn new skills together with information and knowledge about the art of carving and the types of wood used for the variety of items which can be made. A very welcoming and knowledgeable host helped make the day a great success! We would certainly recommend this course to others - thank you very much! "

Roberta Daniel-Thomas reviewed: Pyrography Workshop in The Cotswolds - Gloucestershire/Wiltshire/Oxfordshire Border

"I had a great time learning pyrography and produced a nice piece of artwork. Sharon the tutor was so patient and very informative. I was inspired by her to buy a pyrography kit when I got home. You don’t need to be an artist nor a good drawer to do the class either. I’m looking at the Craft Barn for other classes now."

Lechlade Craft Barn responded:

"Hi Roberta, So pleased you enjoyed your day and you feel inspired to create more at home. Hope to see you again. Karen"

"A totally unique experience. Dave is an excellent tutor - knowledgeable, professional and a skilled Artisan, with an abundance of patience. It really was a joy to be tutored by such an expert. There are lots of steps to the process of making a professional quality knife and we went through all of these at just the right pace. I have made a unique gift, with the resin handle from the previous week. I can 100% recommend this course. You will end the day with a thing of beauty to be treasured. Thank you very much Dave."

Sarah Clark reviewed: Tulips still life in Acrylic Workshop, with Katharine Skorka

"A disappointing workshop. The easels provided did not support the canvas. The demonstration of techniques by the tutor was difficult to see due to the room layout. The tutor did not seem to realise when people were struggling or offer solutions to people at the time as they were focused on their own picture. "

Skorkart responded:

"Dear Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to review your art experience. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed and that you do not feel the class met with your expectations. I note your comment with regards to the easels. Throughout my previous classes, nobody has mentioned this, but I will look into it. I am conscious that people join my classes with different levels of experience and I always urge students to be open minded and not strive for perfection, but enjoy the experience and the learning process. For that reason, I try to maintain a small number of people (5) to ensure the demonstration of techniques are clearly visible to everyone. You were sat directly to my right for the duration. I feel my step by step approach of painting the subject, allows people time to follow and accurately reproduce my technique. We spoke many times and I gave you 1-1 support throughout the session to offer different solutions and techniques. I always give individual attention to people and indeed demonstrated the flower on your own painting, as a guide. I was very sorry when you decided to wipe your work away and leave the class early, as that has not happened in any of my previous classes in the last 5 years. I hope you continue to enjoy painting, Katharine "
