"A disappointing workshop. The easels provided did not support the canvas. The demonstration of techniques by the tutor was difficult to see due to the room layout. The tutor did not seem to realise when people were struggling or offer solutions to people at the time as they were focused on their own picture. "
Skorkart responded:
"Dear Sarah,
Thank you for taking the time to review your art experience. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed and that you do not feel the class met with your expectations.
I note your comment with regards to the easels. Throughout my previous classes, nobody has mentioned this, but I will look into it.
I am conscious that people join my classes with different levels of experience and I always urge students to be open minded and not strive for perfection, but enjoy the experience and the learning process.
For that reason, I try to maintain a small number of people (5) to ensure the demonstration of techniques are clearly visible to everyone. You were sat directly to my right for the duration.
I feel my step by step approach of painting the subject, allows people time to follow and accurately reproduce my technique. We spoke many times and I gave you 1-1 support throughout the session to offer different solutions and techniques. I always give individual attention to people and indeed demonstrated the flower on your own painting, as a guide.
I was very sorry when you decided to wipe your work away and leave the class early, as that has not happened in any of my previous classes in the last 5 years.
I hope you continue to enjoy painting,
Katharine
