Mike Collins reviewed: Enter the world of Pyrography with Bob Neill

"My wife and I attended Bob's Pyrography workshop in August 2025. He warmly greeted us as we arrived and the hospitality we experienced from him and his wife Del throughout the day was superb. Bob is an outstanding coach, with a friendly and warm approach to teaching and as we were absolute novices he started by teaching us a few simple techniques and the day culminated with us having really nice pieces of work to take home. The workshop took place in his fascinating and well equipped studio, with home made cakes and drinks offered regularly, with Del providing a sumptuous lunch. We really enjoyed a great day with Bob and Del, excellent value for money and they really know how to host a first class experience. We can't recommend them enough!!"

Liz reviewed: Sterling silver stacking rings for complete beginners

"Vivien made us most welcome and guided us through each stage of the process with warmth, encouragement and patience. I made a total of 7 beautiful and very wearable rings which I was very pleased with and Vivien was kind enough to re-solder two old rings of mine. Don't plan anything for the evening after a day course, you are bound to be late; Vivien let us stay until we had all completed our projects!"

Simply Amazing Jewellery School responded:

"Hahaha, that's true, but if someone had told me you had plans for the evening it would have been a different matter - I would have put the radio on to stop all the chat, heeded my alarm and I definitely wouldn't have had time to do each of the repairs that the three of you brought in - you all asked so nicely I was happy to forego the fees. I'm sorry if I misjudged the situation - you had rearranged your meal and seemed comfortable. Running a workshop is quite organic so I very much appreciate your feedback and I'm very pleased you like your lovely rings"

You will come home with a chair, and you will have had a joyous life enriching experience. StJohn brings together a love of woodworking and a lifetime of teaching experience, a rare combination. Bryony’s catering is way beyond normal course expectations. Special course, special people."

Mike & Jayne reviewed: Two person pen making experience. Make & take home the pens of your choice.

"We were treated to this course as a present, and were really grateful because it was a fantastic few hours. We now have pens to remind us of it - not just functional, but beautiful, handmade pens that don't look like they were made by a couple of novices! We use them all the time. We could choose from different types (rollerball, fountain, etc.) and an assortment of different woods and coloured acrylics meant the possibility of a surprisingly large range of finished appearances. Duncan was a first rate tutor - patient, knowledgeable and personable, and able to solve the couple of slightly sticky situations we inevitably got ourselves in. He nevertheless gave us the space to create the finished product more or less ourselves (and was always ready to supply cups of tea). Would recommend to anyone!"

Duncs Wood Turning responded:

"Mike & Jayne, Thank you very much for your kind review, I'm so glad that you enjoyed the experience, I enjoyed meeting and working with you both. Rgds, Duncs."

Margaret and Maggie reviewed: Two day Leaded Stained Glass panel making.

"We had a great couple of days. Laura was an excellent tutor, very friendly and hands-on. We learned a lot in a short time and had good fun as well. We felt the workshop could benefit from being a tad longer, maybe an extra half hour each afternoon to avoid feeling a bit rushed. And it might be an idea for Laura to provide gloves or to ask participants to bring some for handling lead. Also, people with an idea of what they're going to do might want to think about colours beforehand, just to get things going. Thanks to Laura for a creative and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. Margaret and Maggie "

Laura Barnes Crafty Fox Studios responded:

"Thank you! Lovely review, you both handled the full on processes needed for this course really well Just to mention... I do always provide lead barrier cream incase anyone worries. Laura "

"Had a fabulous day at this studio with Josie. She was both accommodating and also encouraged me to stretch myself, very supportive (and an great teacher) and I left with some cracking multi-coloured prints which was a step up from what I’ve done with Lino before. Lovely lunch (soup / rolls and cake) and cuppas / biscuits throughout the day. Plenty of parking right next to the studio. Thank you Josie - I wholeheartedly recommend!"

"I went with two friends for a delightful and absorbing day of sock knitting with Anne and Matty. The process required concentration and patience. "
