Sarah Griffiths reviewed: Soap Making for Beginners

"What a lovely day I had with Diane. After a warm welcome, Diane chatted with me about the various stages and processes of soap making. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to explain the science behind it all in a very interesting and accessible way. I was an absolute beginner to soap making and had seen various kits online but wanted to have a greater understanding of how and what I could achieve. I couldn’t have wished for a better tutor. I made some heavenly lavender soap in a very relaxed setting but precision, attention to detail and safety were paramount in Diane’s kitchen. The course fulfilled all my expectations and more. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to venture into soap making. "

Aroma Natural responded:

"Sarah, what can I say... huge thank you for such an amazing review, and for taking the time to write it. It really does help other people to hear that you have had a good time and learnt how to make a lovely soap. I would also like to thank you as you took me out of my comfort zone by using keffir for the first time. Enjoy your soap and thank you once again. It was lovely to have you here and to meet your husband. "

"This workshop was utterly amazing and I enjoyed every single second. Jo is a wonderful tutor, everything was organised and explained, with ample space to work. Jo's studio is a beautiful inspiration too. Being an absolute beginner to sculpting, I was thrilled with the piece I created by the end of the two days under Jo's excellent and patient tuition. I highly recommend Jo's workshop and if you are new to sculpture then don't be nervous, Jo will talk you through it and you'll have a wonderful time."

Peter reviewed: Collagraph Printmaking Weekend Workshop

"What a great way to spend a weekend. I really had no idea of quite what to expect, but I did come with a few ideas of images I thought would work because of "shapes", so a Polish folk group, the Taj Mahal and the last minute inspiration of an explosion of textures all delivered more than I could have hoped thanks to Hannah's guidance. Building layers of texture, sealing, inking & pressing produced three remarkable prints using quite different approaches. I wanted to be able to leave and try at home, so as long as I get some of the right inks should be able to get something done for myself. Well worth the time - thanks a bunch Hannah."

Hannah Cantellow Studio responded:

"Thank you Peter, I thoroughly enjoyed it as well and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your collagraph prints and experiments. Thanks for the coffee too!"

Nicola reviewed: Wooden Pendant Carving with Giles Newman

"My son and I attended the course yesterday and we had a fantastic day. Giles is self-taught and incredibly gifted and it was a pleasure to see his work and receive his guidance. His finished pieces are exquisite with such beautiful detail. The whole day was lovely and relaxed, and we learnt a lot about different wood and carving techniques, safety of using tools, and he showed us his first pieces of wood work from when he began his woodcarving journey. Giles and his wife are lovely people, really encouraging and a lot of fun. We had a great day and hope to visit again soon for an advanced carving course. We purchased our carving knives and have been practicing this morning on some other pieces of wood that we have and I’m really happy with everything we learnt on the day. Thank you so much Giles! "

Giles Newman responded:

"Thank you so much Nicola! It was so lovely to meet you and Mikey and to spend such an enjoyable day with you both. I do hope that you continue to carve and push your skills even further. Thank you again!"

"A friend and I spent yesterday on this course. Fabulous, no pressure, everyone was very friendly and the tutors very encouraging. After initial instruction and completion of a test piece we could all create whatever we wanted and the help was first class. Having no previous experience did not matter and I would recommend this course. For anyone with an interest in learning new skills or just looking for an interesting experience. "

helen bambrough reviewed: Router Day Class

"This was really useful, I was so excited to attend. The group and Dave (teacher) were really supportive. I would have perhaps liked a little more hands on though and bought something away with me. An intricate bit of routing that I'd done... or similar. I did a woodturning workshop last year and came home with a bowl and it would have been nice to add to the collection. Great day though, fully recommend it. "

Su reviewed: Glass Mosaic sun catcher

"Really enjoyed this course. We were given just the right amount of time and guidance, for us it was fairly hands-off but Diane was always about to answer questions and help out. Looking forward to getting it grouted and up. Would definitely suggest that you go armed with an idea of what you want to do. "

Crafty Diane Gift Shop, Art Gallery and Craft workshops responded:

"Thanks for the review. It’s always difficult to gauge how hands on or off to be. I tend to be guided by the confidence of the participant and I had confidence in your ability :) . Send us a piccie when you have grouted it and if you have difficulty get in touch. :) "
