Before and after lunch we were able to cut, prepare, design and assemble various glass articles. Dawn was always available to answer questions and give advice. A thoroughly enjoyable day -- now need to see how it comes out of the kiln!! "

Keith Lough reviewed: Spoon Carving with Touchwood Glasgow

"Robert provided a gentle journey from talking about the wood (fallen Pollok lime) through the tools and techniques for making them work. He was patient with our various ambitions and abilities with the various tools and, one way or another, everyone created a spoon. The tools are very sharp, so you need to listen to Robert and 'listen' to the wood; be patient. It's an unheated workshop; take layers of clothing. A really nice day."

Caron Kilroy reviewed: Needle felt your Dog or Cat

"I went along to the needle felting cats and dogs course as a complete novice in February 2024. The studio is a fabulous Aladdins cave of craft in an incredible historic building. Josephine is so talented at her many fibre crafts and was super helpful and kind and guided us all so well in making our animals. I absolutely love the whole day and am proud of my dog as my first attempt at it. If you are looking for a fun course to do, this is the one. This is ideal and you would be hard pushed to find anybody with Josephine’s knowledge. I really loved it. Thank you so much. "

Phinefibre responded:

"Hi Caron, Delighted you had a lovely day learning all about needle felting animals and enjoyed the studio space or my ‘Aladdins cave’. Thank you so much for your very kind thoughts about my fibre arts skills, much appreciated."

Martina Jarosova reviewed: Wooden Pendant Carving with Giles Newman

"If you're looking for an unforgettable woodcarving experience look no further. :) I highly recommend this course which I recently had the pleasure of attending. From start to finish, it was an experience filled with laughter, learning, and genuine camaraderie. The course takes place in Giles' cozy studio and thanks to smaller group size, we were able to connect and share our passions for nature and woodcarving. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it easy to dive into the creative process with enthusiasm. But it was our teacher who truly made this course unforgettable. Patient, passionate, and endlessly skilled, he guided us through every step of the woodcarving journey. I would not hesitate to book an advanced course when I get the chance. Thank you for the wonderful day! ☀️"

Giles Newman responded:

"Thank you so much for your lovely review Martina. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and to learn of your creative journey, to see your beautiful work and to share in such a truly enjoyable day. I do hope that you continue to carve and that you find a way to pull together all of your skills into your incredible jewellery creations. Thank you again!"

Sarah Griffiths reviewed: Soap Making for Beginners

"What a lovely day I had with Diane. After a warm welcome, Diane chatted with me about the various stages and processes of soap making. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to explain the science behind it all in a very interesting and accessible way. I was an absolute beginner to soap making and had seen various kits online but wanted to have a greater understanding of how and what I could achieve. I couldn’t have wished for a better tutor. I made some heavenly lavender soap in a very relaxed setting but precision, attention to detail and safety were paramount in Diane’s kitchen. The course fulfilled all my expectations and more. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to venture into soap making. "

Aroma Natural responded:

"Sarah, what can I say... huge thank you for such an amazing review, and for taking the time to write it. It really does help other people to hear that you have had a good time and learnt how to make a lovely soap. I would also like to thank you as you took me out of my comfort zone by using keffir for the first time. Enjoy your soap and thank you once again. It was lovely to have you here and to meet your husband. "
