Lou & Rob reviewed: One Day Bladesmithing Course - London Border

"Excellent day. Owen was a great tutor and kept a sharp eye on progress, helping out where needed. Everyone completed their knife and took it home. All tools and safety equipment was provided, small group size (7 on our day) meant we could all see the demo and get the required amount of attention. Owen is a master craftsman, he showed us some stunning examples of his work. The detail he can get on a blade is amazing. I would recommend this class to anyone."

Nikki Alexander reviewed: Basket weaving for beginners - make a round basket

"Lovely days spent rekindling basket making skills last done over 45 years ago as a child. Emma has only small groups and gives excellent tuition. I went with my husband and he had never done it before. We both came away with baskets we were proud of and use at home. We have done 2 courses and recommend Emma highly. Whatever your ability, you will really enjoy the courses. The location is lovely and peaceful and it's a great way to get away from the day to day. You just relax into basket making for a day."

Bird Farm Alpacas responded:

"Thanks Nikki glad both you and Tony enjoyed basket making again! =)"

Wayne Dawson reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"My brother and I just had a fantastic day with Mort at the forge. He is a brilliant and patient teacher who imparts his vast knowledge of blacksmithing as well as being an expert on medieval history to boot. Managed to get more done in the day than we thought particularly with Mort stepping in to "help you dress it up" when things were going wrong i.e. a very polite way of saying he would correct our mistakes (of which there were many). We both made small knives in the morning and then I tackled a bigger blade in the afternoon whilst my brother made a very elaborate toasting fork. Overall it was great fun and I would definitely recommend it and hope to be back once I've worked on my hammer muscles a bit more."

"Richard managed the class brilliantly considering we were all had different levels of skill. He was only too keen to help, advise and show us " tricks of the trade " . We could also ask him for advice on any aspect of ceramics - not just throwing - I got some useful information from him regarding glazes."

Petra reviewed: Needle Felting - Half Day - Feather Felts

"Followed Jane's needle felting workshop yesterday where we learned how to create a cute needle felted hare in a small group of lovely people. I absolutely loved every second of it: the ambience, Jane's patience and sense of humour, the tea and cakes and lovely dog, learning the techniques: it was an afternoon very well spent and one to remember! Jane is a gem, very talented, great to talk and listen to. She managed to explain the techniques so well, I, a person with two left hands(!) walked away with a gorgeous hare I will be showing off to everyone who wants to listen (and to those who don't :P), a love for needle felting and a taste for more! I hope to be able to join another one of Jane's courses in the near future, it was well worth the journey of 3 hours there and back for me :) A++++++"

"When you lead such a busy life it is fantastic to escape and spend 2 whole days doing something creative. Bridget is very generous with her knowledge and helps you to learn different techniques but allows you to develop your own style. This was my first attempt at felting but will certainly not be my last."

"Thank you Cate!"
