We had a lovely day making our baskets and we had quite a sense of achievement at the end. We had two very usable baskets to take home and had thoroughly enjoyed our time with Emma finding out what goes into basket weaving and learning on the job. It was also a joy to meet the alpacas!

Lovely days spent rekindling basket making skills last done over 45 years ago as a child.
Emma has only small groups and gives excellent tuition. I went with my husband and he had never done it before. We both came away with baskets we were proud of and use at home. We have done 2 courses and recommend Emma highly.
Whatever your ability, you will really enjoy the courses. The location is lovely and peaceful and it's a great way to get away from the day to day. You just relax into basket making for a day.

Response from Bird Farm Alpacas:Thanks Nikki
Attended the one day basket making workshop run by Emma at Bird Farm on the 7th September.
Have wanted to learn this craft for a long time and Emma is an excellent, patient teacher and I finished the day with a completed basket which I'm very pleased with. Lovely surroundings and a chance to see Alpacas.

We went on the basket making course as 2 adults and a 9 year old child. We all had a fantastic day and our baskets turned out surprisingly well for complete beginners, thanks to Emma's instruction! Emma was great with our daughter too; as her interest waned in the afternoon she took her aside to make a small bird feeder as we got on with our baskets. Thoroughly recommended!

Such a great day, and I am totally inspired to start making baskets at home. Emma was calm and clear in her instructions, and I can't quite believe how lovely my basket is, after just one lesson. Definitely going to return.

This is the second time I have attended a willow weaving workshop with Emma. Although the first time visit in her new workshop.
I'd arranged a two day course to make a log basket, I really enjoy weaving. Emma made tasty flapjacks and lots of coffee. At lunchtime we (sorry forgot to say 2 friends were with me) went for a little walk to see the beautiful Alpacas OMG so cute but so funny!
Love the weaving, Emma is brilliant and loved the Alpacas.
Made a mini break of it and stayed in New Quay (oyster cottage sea views - fantastic) what a lovely town!

Fantastic day! We were complete beginners... 5 friends together. We all made brilliant and different baskets. You can choose your colour willow.. white, green, buff. Loved it so much, 3 of us have re-booked for November... I am making a log basket. Taking the opportunity of booking a cottage by the sea for 2 nights and we can explore! Emma is a lovely lady, really looked after us all and even spoilt us with homemade cakes!!! Thanks. C u in November!

It was a lovely relaxing day with Emma's selection of homegrown, wild and bought willows in beautiful shades of green, brown and white. I went to learn about working with willows for an art project but also went home with an impressive and unusual round basket I had created! The homemade cakes were great too! I hope to go again soon!

My partner & I were recently the subject of the BBC2 documentary series 'Country Strife : Abz on the farm' which followed us as we made the not so seamless transition from urban to rural life. As the series demonstrated that we are absolutely clueless when it comes to rural pursuits, crafting and other such traditional activities...But with Emma Bird I was in safe hands.
I absolutely LOVED this workshop and the result was a really lovely looking basket after just one session!!! (currently our fruit basket) I even learned enough to be able to show help Abz make one when I got home.
Warm friendly atmosphere, excellent flapjacks ;) and brilliant value for money.
We will definitely be attending again
