Description
Brian and I are passionate about teaching a variety of willow weaving courses in the beautiful Surrey Hills near Dorking. On this half day course, which is suitable for beginners, you will be making a beautiful Zarzo flower basket. Also great for collecting your vegetables from the garden, and many other uses. The Zarzo originated in northern Spain for draining the cheeses, and can be made as a flat tray or a rectangular basket as well. We begin the day with the willow talk. This will cover how and where it is grown and prepared for your project; the different varieties that can be used to make baskets, and a little bit about the history and industry of basket making. Working in two different colours, the weave sweeps around to create this unique shape and finishes off with knots on top of the handles. Voila, you go home with a very distinguished stunning basket.
