Description
Beginners basket weaving, one day course. There is a certain beauty in weaving, the smell of the willow, the feel of the bark, seeing your very own creation grow in front of your eyes. This will be a one day workshop where you'll have the opportunity to learn about different weaving materials, how to collect and prepare them and most importantly on this day, how to weave a round base, sides and a simple border and possibly, if there's time at the end of the day, simple handles and a footer. Rowenna has over 20 years of experience in leading workshops and is an experienced Arts in Health practitioner, having worked in the private and public sector leading workshops and creating commissioned work from simple baskets to 8' snowdrops. The workshop will be held near Bala, nestled between the Berwyn hills and the legendary Llyn Tegid. Bookings can be made up to 14 days prior to the course, this allows time for the willow to be soaked and mellowed to enable it to be supple enough for you to make your baskets What you need to bring: - Comfortable clothing and possibly, your slippers. - Secateurs, if you have a pair. - Bodkin or a flat head screw driver, if you have one. - A packed lunch. - Cushions for your own comfort. - Waterproofs in case you fancy taking a short walk during the lunch hour to the lake shore or up the valley. - A readiness to learn and embrace a new skill that will have you looking at baskets, hedgerows and your neighbours gardens in a whole new light.

FAQs
14 days - Willow needs to be soaked and mellowed to enable it to be supple enough for you to weave with. However, it's always a good idea to get in touch in case that there has been a request of cancellation if you fall within that 14 day window.
This is the best bit, not only do you get to learn a new skill, you get to take what you've created home with you too. I always recommend that you make another as soon as possible to help you remember what you've learnt or, alternatively, you can come back for another course on another day to have a refresher.
