Lesley reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"Recently attended Elaine beginners spinning courses in her beautiful home. from the moment you arrive you are welcomed and the fun begins. Elaine's tuition is tailored to the individuals on the course, and her patience is remarkable while we fumble our way though hand eye foot and wool coordination but then the penny drops and you're away. We all left with handspun wool to show for our day. Thanks Elaine."

Lesley reviewed: Whittling course

"What a lovely day. The course is very hands on and practical from the start and everything it promised to be. If I have learnt a fraction of Martin's skill and knowledge it was well worth it. Being a small group is ideal, very relaxed and friendly. The cup of tea on arrival was just what was needed and the homemade lunch is another of Martin's talents. I now have knife and book and am setting up my sharpening kit so will shortly be ready to safely go. An excellant course which I thoroughly recommend . 27.09.15"

"This is the third workshop I have done with Tambour and Clutch and I loved it as much as the first two. The tutor is warm and welcoming and paces the session at individual speeds which builds confidence. The session is very informative and any questions are answered knowledgeably. The building is beautiful and is set in a lovely location."

Julie Kendrick reviewed: Crochet for Beginners (Adults) in Putney

"I really enjoyed my lesson with Sowmya, the afternoon flew by and I have no hesitation in recommending her. to others. As other reviewers have noted she is a very patient and natural teacher. Her lesson was very structured, we had clear goals and she provided written instructions for both the stitches and the projects for me to take home."

Jim Bartley reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"The two day course was purchased for me as a 60th birthday gift. I had a really good time learning new skills and updating some old ones. Nigel is a very good teacher and allowed me the scope to try things on my own but was always on hand to guide and advise me. I would recommend this course to anyone. I stayed with my wife at the site in "Woodman's Rest" a warm and cosy shepherds hut. This allowed me to roll out of bed and go straight to the course. What more could you wish for! Local eating hostelries were also good. I hope to go back in the near future."

Mike G reviewed: Belt Making Workshop or Handbound Leather Journal Workshop

"My wife and I went on this course; I made a simple belt which was in itself good value. My wife used a simple clasp buckle which she had inherited, which meant the belt was more complicated in order to allow adjustment. Clive and Wendy spent the time to make sure the design worked well. We came away with beautiful, durable belts which we simply couldn't have bought."

"I so enjoyed this course with Linda, I have learnt so much. I have never done any hand embroidery before but I'm hooked now. Thank you Becci"

Bonnie King reviewed: Group Soap-making Workshop - Soapology Studio - Nottinghamshire

"I had an amazing day learning how to make soap yesterday at Colwick Hall! Emma was so welcoming and a great teacher. She was patient in answering all of our questions and thoroughly explained everything. Refreshments were provided for us and after the morning session which was theory based, we were treated to a lovely lunch. Then the fun! In the afternoon we started to make the soap. Everyone looked like they were having a great time, especially when they got to the colour and additive section. Choosing the 'toppings' and additives was my favourite part. Emma again was really patient with me when I changed my mind about what I wanted on top of one of the soaps and she helped me to make the most of our time. We made three batches of soap all together to take home. I would love to come back and this time bring my mum. It was a great day full of delicious smells and I would thoroughly recommend it. Cheers Emma for a fab day!"

DianneShaw reviewed: Group Soap-making Workshop - Soapology Studio - Nottinghamshire

"A packed day full of interesting information about a lovely product, had lots of fun deciding on my own special soap unique to me as every batch is totally different. All aspects of soapmaking were covered and this information was available to take home along with the soap you made on the day. Lots of support from all the team at Soapology with nothing being to much trouble. The day included a lovely lunch with plenty of tea/coffee or water to drink throughout the day. I would recommend this course to anyone. Thank you Emma and all your team for a great day."

Bill Cuunningham reviewed: Belt Making Workshop or Handbound Leather Journal Workshop

"I went on the belt making course last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Clive and Wendy are great teachers and I came away with a new leather belt as a present for my wife which I am still very proud to have made. The process was carefully explained and you are given handouts to take away for future reference. It was a great day out which I would recommend to anyone. In fact I am now intending to buy some of the tools we used and take this up as a proper hobby."

Rebecca Burston reviewed: Enamelling on copper

"My husband and I came and spent a day with Dilys in her studio, learning enamelling. We came as part of our 10 year wedding anniversary weekend trip to Bath. We both enjoyed the course very much and found Dilys to be a calm, supportive and a very creative teacher. We came away with quite a few finished pieces which we were really pleased with. We would thoroughly recommend the course and would love to come back one day and learn more!"

"I attended the course as a part of my staff conference and I was thrilled. Everything was well explained and the course content was fab. I enjoyed every minute of it. Even after the training Angharad has been very supportive and helpful when I said I want to continue with my candle making. Would definitely recommend!"

Issy Reading reviewed: Shoemaking Workshop

"A really fun weekend course with friendly and helpful tutors who gave just the right amount of guidance and help. I had high expectations of the course and they were met - I now have a bespoke pair of boots that fit my feet perfectly and are in my own chosen colour scheme! The course was well paced, with enough time for breaks and lunch whilst also keeping up the boot-making progress. Alison and Sarah were careful to give each of us the attention we needed but let us get on and do each stage of the process ourselves. The venue and location were also really nice so it was a pleasure to stay there for the weekend. I'd very much recommend the course - definitely worth the money."

Dave Smith reviewed: Carve a Rocking Horse Head Course

"I have to agree with all the positive reviews already made on the 3 day workshop on carving a rocking horse head. I experienced a very well organised course on learning the techniques for using the tools on solid wood without messing up the head right away, leading on to shaping the head as you would like. Just follow what Tony demonstrates step by step and you will end up with a very professional looking horse’s head and a good working knowledge of how to use the tools. I had already assembled the Large Rocky and carved the body but I needed some practise on a head. This was just what I needed. I am now full of enthusiasm to complete the Large Rocky. Most enjoyable, full of fun and a fabulous active holiday. There were six of us on the course and there were six good looking heads after only three days. I could not recommend this workshop more highly. The only negative is that I had to go home afterwards."

Ed P reviewed: Introduction to Leather Craft

"I highly recommend this course. For anyone wanting to learn about the basics of leatherworking, including knowledge of the industry, Bill is the guy to see. I joined a weekend course and his vast knowledge and experience of the craft combined with high quality of teaching would be hard to match. Very enthusiastic and helpful with everything, with great explanations of each process. I would advise anyone interested in leather to sign up - so worth it!"

Richard Payne reviewed: Carve a Rocking Horse Head Course

"This is an excellent course - suitable even for someone like me with very limited woodworking skills indeed. Tony is not only an amazing carver himself, but has that rare gift of being able to pass on his skills with patience and care to everyone in the room. We each created our own carving having watched Tony explain exactly how to do it, from the basic handling of the tools, the working of the wood, through to the anatomy of the horse that is being imitated. He is an inspirational teacher and has left me 'hooked' on rocking horse making! All the staff in both the shop and workshop are extremely friendly & helpful - as well as being very knowledgeable about every aspect of rocking horses and how to make them. The museum of Victorian rocking horses is also well worth seeing. I cannot recommend the course highly enough."

Ros Duffy reviewed: "Make it Big" Splashbacks & Large Panels for Fused Glass Artists

"I am familiar with fused and stained glass, but wanted to know the differences with making something BIG. I am so glad I attended this course because it was full of useful information which has already been tried and tested by Liz herself, so everything she has learnt she has passed on. She went into detail of the pitfalls and how to get around them. Aga's being a bit of a mean beast for splashbacks, but again mastered by Liz, and advice passed on as to how to overcome them. I attended this course in June and she is still helping me with any questions I have, so her help and advice is ongoing well after you have attended the course."
