KC Constantine reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"I Bought my partner a half day course (4-5) hours at £95 as a birthday gift. He has talked of doing woodworking crafts in his retirement in May and although only having done your usual DIY projects, he'd never done anything like this. This quite simply was the best present he'd ever had (his words), so without hesitation I'd recommend Ian and his workshops to anyone who wants to learn rustic and traditional carpentry skills using traditional methods and tools. Ian is a natural teacher with a friendly disposition and helpful hints and tips. He is knowledgeable, patient and easy going, his passion for his craft is evident. He a very skilled person, my partner learnt a lot from him, this has certainly given him the excitement of retirement to look forward to to crack on with his own projects, he came away from the day with not only a mallet he'd made and a stool (very impressive, I must say) but also full of enthusiasm. There is no doubt I would recommend his courses to all. You can't go wrong by having this delightful man show you how he will give you the time and patience to explain the various stages of construction, using his wonderful high quality woodworking tools. This is excellent value for money, learning so much and coming home with your very own quality hand crafted stool and tool. My partner already wants a longer session next time the all day bench making I think at £280, and at least I know every single penny is worth it. What more can I say, I Highly Recommend."

"I would be gilding the lily if I repeated all the good things everyone has said about this most patient, professional teacher and craftsman. So I will just say 5 stars all round. Go and do a course with this consummate craftsman.. even his workshop is a treat to visit. Even his tea making is second to none."

Fiona reviewed: Highland stool making course - Scottish Highlands

"Aaron's green woodworking weekend course was absolutely brilliant! Based in the stunning grounds of Logie Steading, the workshop is a total hub of creativity! Aaron made us so welcome and the weekend was really relaxed and fun. We were introduced to a range of woodworking techniques and tried our hand at a variety of woodworking processes. Aaron made it really accessible and enjoyable. We were so amazed and proud of our creations and are looking forward to taking part in another of Aaron's workshops in the future. After this weekend I'm totally hooked and was totally encouraged that woodwork is accessible and within my reach. I'm planning on getting some equipment and practicing at home this Spring. Thanks a million Aaron, see you again soon! Fiona & Iain"

Thomas Greenfield reviewed: Introduction to Spoon Carving

"Such an excellent course! Chris is such a nice guy and an extremely good teacher (very patient!). It was so good to see the process of craving a spoon from start to finish and to see the kind of thing you are able to produce with a little (or a lot) of practice! I also really enjoyed the lunch of homemade soup in homemade bowls :) I would massively recommend this course to anybody looking to take up a relaxing and interesting hobby!"

Jan Bagnall reviewed: Mosaic workshop at Jackie Nash Art

"My daughter and I had an absolutely fantastic day with Jackie. Neither of us had done anything like this before and we don't regard ourselves as particularly creative or artistic. However, Jackie's patient, careful and instructive tutoring changed that! Her work on display is inspirational and the choice of materials on offer is amazing. Jackie is clever at letting you do your own thing whilst giving guidance and help when needed. Alongside this, Jackie constantly supplied us with tea and gorgeous homemade Victoria sandwich cake. Although initially we found the prospect of making a mosaic in one day daunting, we quickly got into the process and actually found it very therapeutic. I'm amazed by what, with Jackie's encouragement, we were able to make and we're very proud of our finished pieces. I can't praise this course highly enough. My daughter and I will be back again and in the meantime we will pursue the art of mosaic making."

Jackie Nash Art responded:

"Thank you Jan for your lovely review. It was a pleasure working with yourself and Louisa. ?"

Alex reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"As an engineer I was already predisposed to liking metal, fire and hitting things. When I found out I'd been bought a 1 day forging course by my partner, I was over the moon. Training with Mort for the day was a unique experience, and I left with a much deeper appreciation for the skills and artistry that goes into hand forging. I made a wine bottle and glass holder and my partner made a candlestick holder, and we learned how to fire weld, split, scroll and a range of other techniques. Couldn't recommend highly enough!"

Anthony Culley reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I had a very enjoyable and informative day with Mark. I had some specifics that I needed guidance on and during the day we dealt with those and a few more, including tool selection and sharpening. As a result I now need to do less sanding as I get a better finish directly from the chisels. A very worthwhile and thorough session with a very skilful, understanding and helpful professional. I plan another visit."

Catherine reviewed: Table Loom Weaving Workshop - Dobby & Rose

"I signed up to the Beginners Weaving Workshop to learn a bit more about the process of weaving and making your own fabric. Rebecca expertly guided us through the basic mechanics, terminology and art of weaving, without bombarding or overwhelming us with technical jargon. She is an extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher and rather than feeling like we were being led through the motions, we were gently encouraged to have a go, be creative and experiment. The atmosphere was relaxed yet industrious and the three hours flew by. I have come away with a one-of-a-kind piece of handwoven fabric and the urge to weave again! Thank you Rebecca for a lovely morning."
