I am so, so glad that I went to the chair workshop! It's something that I have always wanted to learn more about - and was not disappointed.
Steph was brilliant with explaining each step of the process and was so patient and positive at guiding each one of us. Her enthusiasm and passion for what she does was a joy to be around!
The little touches of the cakes and plenty of tea and coffee was very much appreciated, and the lunch was also a huge hit... especially from working up such an appetite.
I will definitely be join another workshop and have quite a few friends and family members who now also want to join me after seeing what can be created!
Overall a fabulous way to do something a little different, learn some new skills from a brilliant teacher and be in great company!
I really enjoyed the chair makeover course. Steph was very helpful and knowledgeable. All tools and materials were readily available along with plenty of refreshments and a lovely fish and chip lunch. I have no hesitation in recommending this course.
Steph was fabulous and not only did I come away with a newly renovated chair (that I've had lots of lovely comments on) but I've learnt a skill for life and have since reupholstered my four dining chairs and they look great. Steph couldn't have been more helpful and looked after us like kings and queens! The fish and chip lunch was absolutely delicious too. I would definitely recommend this course.
The chair makeover was fantastic and Steph was very helpful and patient. We all achieved amazing results.
My suggestions are to do with the catering aspect. Firstly you need a proper coffee machine and ideally homemade cakes (or at least cakes from a bakery, placed on a plate). Secondly, I would suggest that fish and chips for lunch are not ideal. Surely some sandwiches from Waitrose or something similar would be easily sourced.
A fabulous day that could be improved.
What a wonderful day! Steph was extremely knowledgable and practical and a great host. I have done quite a bit of painting previously, but Steph provided lots a of new helpful hints and tips. The upholstery part was all new and great fun to learn. I came away feeling like I really achieved something. I have been recommending the day to everyone.
Had a really fun, busy and relaxing day with my Mum learning all about painting and upholstery with Annie Sloane paint and fabrics.
Steph is a very knowledgeable, patient and lovely lady.
We both loved our chairs at the end of a brilliant course.
A brilliant experience. Steph is friendly, good fun and very supportive. Everything is well prepared and I really did learn how to upcycle a vintage chair. Steph patiently guided us through every stage from using Annie Sloan paint (as good as it says on the tin!), through stripping back the padded seat to it's basic wooden frame to a complete re-upholster. Great setting, good company, good food and removing staples from the old seat even provided an unexpectedly good physical workout. Loved everything. Oh yes... and my chair looks just fantastic!
Steph, the gregarious and charming proprietor of La Di Da in Andover, is a wonderful font of knowledge on Annie Sloan and up cycling in general. The course I attended was relaxed, friendly and informative. I had a great day and look forward to the next one.
I didn't know quite what to expect when I signed up for a whole day renovating a chair but the transformation that we all achieved with these rather sad looking, unloved chairs was quite magical!
The day flew by and Steph was on hand with step by step help and encouragement as well as keeping us supplied with drinks, snacks and lunch. The old nails and original upholstery had definitely seen better days and really needed consigning to the rubbish bin. The materials we were given were a joy to work with and I could not believe how easy the Annie Sloan paint was to use.
I learnt so much and it has given me the confidence to have a go at painting and reupholstering another two unloved chairs that I have at home. A fabulously rewarding, busy but fun day and one I would thoroughly recommend.
With so many lovely wooden chairs looking unloved, this course is perfect to not only transform them with the gorgeous choices of Annie Sloan paint but also to reupholster any seats etc! Steph guides you through the whole process - so a full on but rewarding day - so you can take your learnings and confidently tackle your chair renovations!
I have always wanted to try my hand at upholstery and being a recent convert to Annie Sloan paints this seemed the perfect course for me.
The course was a full day, but the time flew by with Steph keeping us supplied with drinks, snacks and lunch as we went along.
Steph took us through step by step what we needed to do and was hands on helping where needed (some of the old nails and tacks are hard to shift!!). It was lovely to be able to transform and old chair and see it come back to life in your own hands.
The day was very hands on, but such fun, I really would recommend to anyone.
