A friendly fun filled session of making - working with modern and traditional upholstery tools and techniques - and sustainable and eco-minded materials. We will make a round modern upholstered 48cm diameter pinboard for you to take away on the day. We will affix a sawtooth hook to the reverse, so that the pinboard can then be hung on a standard picture hook You will have a choice of colour ways - we work with deadstock Linwood velvets, sustainable cork sheeting & quality french elastic - there are a number of designs that you can follow, or create your own! Please note that in the images there are different size pinboards we will be working per the dimensions of the Grey & Orange pinboard, but there are very different configurations possible. We will be working in a mixed media use Studio, amongst the work of textile artist Georgia Bosson, it is a very special space, you will be surrounded by her tools, materials, work and reference materials. Maker
I live in Lewes, and have been running a furniture and textile business making simply designed contemporary pieces. One of those pieces, the birch wood footstool is an especial delight to make, it is simple, useful, light & beautiful. With none of the corners that so frustrate upholstery newcomers, I thought it made the perfect 1 day workshop experience. For after a ‘hard’ day learning, making, laughing, creating you get to take home and put your feet up on a foostool, and say “That was Rounded by Me’.

FAQs
We are using hand tools, and need to tension fabric, so good hand grip is definitely helpful. However we are working with a lightweight disc, not a sofa or a wingback chair, so this is definitely on the gentler side of upholstery projects.
Yes! It's a make and take course, so relax into your previous experience, and enjoy creating in a relaxed, friendly environment with the knowledge that you are going to complete a project within the session (and if you've upholstered before you'll know just how unusual that is!)
That's no problem, I will brief you on use of the tools, and the principles of upholstery, on hand throughout the session, to ensure you go home with something beautiful.
