I live in Lewes, and have been running a furniture and textile business making simply designed contemporary pieces. One of those pieces, the birch wood footstool is an especial delight to make, it is simple, useful, light & beautiful. With none of the corners that so frustrate upholstery newcomers, I thought it made the perfect 1 day workshop experience. For after a ‘hard’ day learning, making, laughing, creating you get to take home and put your feet up on a foostool, and say “That was Rounded by Me’.

"What a wonderful course to do. Lucy is an exceptional teacher ensuring you really understand why you are doing the different techniques and answering all yr questions. I learnt so much and had enormous fun doing it the bonus being I came home with a beautiful foot stool. "

"I attended the one day upholstery course with my daughter Ali recently and we had a brilliant day. Lucy is a very experienced and knowledgeable upholsterer. She was great at sharing her knowlege and guiding us through the course. We met some lovely people on the course and had great fun. The biggest bonus was having a really lovely footstool to take home, I really love my footstool and cannot recommend this course highly enough. Thank you Lucy."

"Recently attended this course and had a brilliant time. Lucy is a great communicator with a perfect balance of warmth, humour and practicality in her teaching. The space is big and light with good facilities. We all learned loads, helped each other out and finished up with a beautiful collection of stools at the end. I would highly recommend this day to anyone who fancies a go at upholstery and has an appreciation for a well-turned, lovingly-pouffed and highly practical giant Smartie on which to rest their tired feet. "

"Made a gorgeous sunshine-coloured footstool yesterday, and amazingly not even aching (too much) today! Lucy is a patient teacher, and has lots of tips and advice for anyone trying upholstery as something new, or those wanting to have a go re-upholstering pieces. It's a small group, so there's time for everyone's queries and I was so pleased to be able to take home something I had made. So, in short, personally rewarding plus ginger biscuits provided. What's not to love?"
