Angie introduces students on this 2 day course to the wonderful occupations of either upholstery, soft furnishings or covers so that you can go home and transform your homes. She has been teaching for nearly 18 years from her home just outside Matlock on the edge of the peak District and aims to find a happy balance between learning and enjoyment. There are 3 students on this 2 day introductory course ideal for beginners (or the very rusty) to try out and see if it is the craft for them.
These two, six hour days are only suitable for small projects unless you are wanting to complete a project you have started on another class.
Suggestions as to suitable projects are cushions - they are excellent for practising fiddly techniques, small roman blind, very small pair of curtains, footstool - we can make you up a frame at additional cost, ottoman box, headboard, drop in seat.
You can bring along your sewing machine and just learn how to get the best out of it. If you are not sure a project is suitable please ring or email Angie. It is important that you can complete the project in the 2 days, if at all possible.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The course includes tea, coffee, cake and biscuits but please bring some lunch along with you. You are expected to bring the covering fabrics for your project/s with you but all other materials can be purchased form our stock and must be paid for at the end of the two days.
Please ask Angie about suitable quantities of fabric to buy.

I always love coming to your sessions, they are fun, relaxed, you pick up all those little tips and increase confidence.......it's always great to meet and get to know the others' who are attending too......oh and home baked goodies.....and another thing just having head space for me!
I have just spent a long weekend making box cushions at Peak Upholstery and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I only wish lived nearer so I could go there regularly as I now have many projects in mind I would like to do. I am a full time wheelchair user and had no problems; the access is flat and there was plenty of room as there were only four of us. (All of whom were very kind and helpful to me). Angie is an excellent and knowledgeable teacher. She was fun to work with and plied us with delicious cakes and biscuits - I can't wait to go back.
Angie's 2 day course was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I stepped through the doors I felt extremely welcome and at home.
I brought two very similar chairs with me and we managed to do both, one with modern and one with traditional techniques. The class size is perfect, you are never left waiting long for some advice or next step and she encourages you to come and watch your fellow upholsterers whilst she helps them so you are constantly learning.
Angie is an excellent tutor, with a fantastic workshop (includes a little stove for warmth!) in an amazing location. She also keeps you well fed with brilliant home made cakes! Thank you Angie!
I have been going to evening classes with Angie for a few years now and absolutely love them. They are fun, creative and allow me to escape for a few hours each week
I have learnt so much, upholstery, curtain and blind making, loose covers etc etc
Thank you Angie, you are a star ⭐️
I regularly travel for 1.5 hours each way to attend Angie's courses, which is testament to how much I enjoy her classes! I found Peak Upholstery one of the few places to offer a course where students are able to bring along any project. I've always attended alongside lovely people, and learned so much from Angie and from the other students' work. Thoroughly enjoyable, I cannot recommend this course highly enough!
Any time on Angie's upholstery courses is time well spent. Angie is a knowledgeable teacher, who takes care to make sure everyone is happy with what they are doing whether beginner or someone with previous experience. Classes are kept small, I've made some lovely new friends and would recommend a course at Peak Upholstery to anyone.
I've been coming to Angie's evening classes for almost 7 years now, completed many projects - big and small - had many cuppas and many of Angie's delicious homemade cakes and biscuits! What more can I say...? Well, if you're looking for a friendly, sociable atmosphere in a warm, homely, creative environment (with amazing views) then don't hesitate to sign up for a course, you'll be really chuffed you did!
For excellent tuition in warm, friendly surroundings, this is a great course. Angie is a true expert in her field, full of energy and enthusiasm, helping you get the most out of your time there.
The workshop is a lovely place to be with cosy wood-burner and stunning views across the valley. There are plenty of tools and materials to hand. The small group sizes mean you get lots of one-to-one attention.
I have enjoyed several courses with Angie at Peak Upholstery in the past and will be back for more. Thoroughly recommended!
I have been on several of Angie’s courses and thoroughly enjoyed them. The courses are relaxing and fun set in her work shop overlooking beautiful Derbyshire countryside. I have completed several projects now including old traditional chairs, more modern furniture, curtains and a footstool made from a frame provided by Angie. Five
I can not recommend Angie and her upholstery courses highly enough. She is an excellent teacher and enjoys finding creative solutions for furniture conundrums! As a result of her classes I have given new life to several pre loved chairs, foot stools and have even tackled curtain making. I look forward all week to going again. Did I mention the delicious home made cakes and biscuits too?
