Learn traditional upholstery

X

Description

Learn to upholster your own chair using traditional techniques and materials. In a rural setting overlooking the Warwickshire countryside. This is a friendly environment where you work at your own pace and socialise with fellow students. With low student to tutor numbers to ensure you have tuition and guidance all through your project. Materials used are not included in the course fee but are available to be purchased at trade prices. (Excluding top fabrics. These need to be sourced elsewhere). Before booking on this course please book onto the project assessment course first. (See my other course listings). This is a one-to-one session where you can discuss your upholstery project with your tutor. We would discuss time scales in conjunction with your experience, if your project will need any remedial work such as frame restoration and show wood polishing, and suitable top fabrics and where to source them. Before booking this session please message me first with a picture of your chair so we can have our initial discussion about your project. See FAQs if you have cold or cough at the time of your session.

I trained as a cabinetmaker 50 years ago. As a mature student, i obtained a first class honours degree in antique furniture conservation and restoration. I set up my business, Peter White Furniture, where for the last 20 years I have been restoring and upholstering antique furniture for clients. Now in my upholstery studio, and under the name of 'The upholstery tutor' I offer upholstery courses where students will learn to upholster their own chair using traditional techniques and materials. Based in a rural setting overlooking the Warwickshire countryside.

FAQs

Each year from the 6th April the price of my sessions will increase by a small amount to cover the increased prices of my overheads.
Any sessions booked for after the 6th April but paid for before the 6th April will be charged at the lower price.

Please do not attend the session if you have any symptoms of a cold or cough. This is for the protection of myself and your fellow students. Call or txt me stating your ill and I can reschedule your session.

If I have a cold or cough I will contact all students the day before, or earlier, and cancel the session. I will then reschedule that session, with you, to a date after I've recovered.
