About the Course
Come and spend a relaxing time in the woods learning new skills and meeting new folk the green wood way. Green woodworking is a traditional practice using fresh wood still full of sap allowing the tools to split, slice, shave and cleave through the wood with ease. We will use techniques that have been developed over hundreds of years, that are in harmony with the nature and qualities of the wood itself. No prior wood working experience is necessary, these courses are for all abilities.
On this course you will make a "Highland Stool". Set outside in a beautiful woodland workshop over-looking the river Findhorn in the Highlands of Scotland.
You will be guided through the process from log to finished stool using traditional hand tools and locally sourced hardwood.
Aaron Sterritt lives in the "Cairngorms National Park" and has been making handcrafted furniture for over 10 years. He has spent much of that time developing his craft using hand tools, creating a healthy work environment and using a sustainable style that has no need for heavy machinery.

A truly fantastic experience...I’m a total novice in woodwork and by the end of this fabulous weekend had made the most beautiful stool...Aaron is a wonderful teacher; patient and very encouraging, instilling confidence...his weekend is really thoughtfully planned and organised whilst remaining flexible and relaxing...a total must...a beautiful part of Scotland, and the setup in the woods is just brilliant...we went as a group of friends and truly had an unforgettable time...home Sunday evening with stools our friends and family will be admiring for a long time. Great fun, filled with laughter, friendship, sunshine and new skills...need I say more! If in doubt, just go for it, you won’t regret this decision ever...I’m definitely returning for another course.

This course was brilliant! I absolutely recommend it for a relaxing weekend in a beautiful location with a chance to get creative! You learn in a small group, so there is plenty of help available. I am so chuffed with my stool and can't stop admiring it! I have been showing it off to everyone! It is certainly something I would do again. Aaron is a thoroughly lovely young man.

Aaron's green woodworking weekend course was absolutely brilliant! Based in the stunning grounds of Logie Steading, the workshop is a total hub of creativity! Aaron made us so welcome and the weekend was really relaxed and fun. We were introduced to a range of woodworking techniques and tried our hand at a variety of woodworking processes. Aaron made it really accessible and enjoyable. We were so amazed and proud of our creations and are looking forward to taking part in another of Aaron's workshops in the future. After this weekend I'm totally hooked and was totally encouraged that woodwork is accessible and within my reach. I'm planning on getting some equipment and practicing at home this Spring. Thanks a million Aaron, see you again soon! Fiona & Iain

Really enjoyable course. A delightful day, Aaron is an excellent tutor with a very easy going manner, plenty of time for everyone. I had never done any woodwork before but Aaron steered me through all the processes and I am now the very proud owner of a woodland stool. I will be back for another course definitely. I would encourage anyone who wishes to do a bit of tradititional woodwork to give this a go its really fun and rewarding.

Arron's woodwork day course is a great day out learning how to make a greenwood stool. The day is really worth the time and money as not only do you learn some new skills but you also get to take home your days work and have the family marvel at your handiwork.
I would recommend this course to anyone whatever your age or experience. Arron's teaching style is relaxed and informal and packed full of woodcraft knowledge. Looking forward to booking up for a three day challenge when next available. Cheers Arron for a great day.

Great day with Aaron learning amazing ways to work with greenwood. Aaron has a relaxed style when instructing and demonstrating which makes learning a pleasurable experience. At the end I was the proud possessor of a stool which was immediately claimed by my son as being "fantastic".
Working with wood this way is almost therapeutic!!!!

What a fantastic day of woodwork with Aaron! I'm absolutely delighted with the amazing piece of beautiful furniture that is now my most precious possession in my home.
I never thought i'd be able to make something this good! Aaron looked after us all so well. His workshop is set amongst a stunning forest on the Logie estate. I learnt how to use all kinds of tools and techniques and can't wait to try something more ambitious.
