About the Course
Come and spend a relaxing time in the woods learning new skills and meeting new folk the green wood way. Green woodworking is a traditional practice using fresh wood still full of sap allowing the tools to split, slice, shave and cleave through the wood with ease. We will use techniques that have been developed over hundreds of years, that are in harmony with the nature and qualities of the wood itself. No prior wood working experience is necessary, these courses are for all abilities.
On this course you will make a "Highland Stool". Set outside in a beautiful woodland workshop over-looking the river Findhorn in the Highlands of Scotland.
You will be guided through the process from log to finished stool using traditional hand tools and locally sourced hardwood.
Aaron Sterritt lives in the "Cairngorms National Park" and has been making handcrafted furniture for over 10 years. He has spent much of that time developing his craft using hand tools, creating a healthy work environment and using a sustainable style that has no need for heavy machinery.

Amazing course with Aaron! Great way to chill out and learn new skills. All the tools were top class and being shown how to use them properly was really useful. Fantastic experience and leaving with a product of your handywork leaves you with a amazing sense of achievement. A must do course!

What a fantastic day of woodwork with Aaron! I'm absolutely delighted with the amazing piece of beautiful furniture that is now my most precious possession in my home.
I never thought i'd be able to make something this good! Aaron looked after us all so well. His workshop is set amongst a stunning forest on the Logie estate. I learnt how to use all kinds of tools and techniques and can't wait to try something more ambitious.
