Description
Try your hand at an ancient creative art-form. Figurative carving in wood, stone and other suitable materials has been pivotal in human culture and traditions for thousands of years. We have been hand carving various figurines for a number of TV and movie productions and found it to be fun and rewarding, so we have decided to offer it as a course for beginners. We are offering two choices of figurines, a traditional Swedish Dala horse and a crow or raven, an ancient symbol of power in Celtic and Norse culture. For group booking requests, the price is per place, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 participants.
What's included in the price?
During the day-long course, we will cover: * Wood preparation and suitable woods. * Hewing, smoothing and cutting the billet. * Sawing work to create an advanced blank. * Whittling techniques to refine your figurine. * Decorate your figure with acrylic paint.

Maker
Father and Daughter team, Nick and Sophie started spoon carving to help improve their wellbeing and mental health, however, it’s become more than just a pass time, it’s become an obsession! We prefer to carve spoons in our back yard, but in the rain and snow, we retreat indoors. Our wood chippings have spread around the whole house! We started our own business in 2018, The Gosman Spoon Co, and now sell our spoons online and offer beginner’s spoon carving courses.
