Beginner’s bowl carving

Have you dabbled with greenwood spoon carving and are keen to take your skills to the next level? Then this might be the course for you! New for 2021, we are offering a limited number of residential weekend courses in greenwood bowl carving for up to three people at our workshop based in a sleepy village in the Norfolk-Suffolk border. We will teach you how to make a simple Kuksa bowl similar to those that are made by the Sámi nomads in Finland. We will take you from basic wood preparation, carving the bowl with an axe, gouge work and finishing to make a bowl that you can take away with you. We will provide you with all the tools you need including chopping and gouge blocks. Accommodation: Saturday night * Camping in our large back garden: £15 per person. * Cabin with double bed: £20 per person - bedding provided * Fully-equipped caravan with cooking & water Other amenities [included in the prices for camping]: * Compost loo * Outdoor tap * Outdoor sink and grey water disposal * Jungle shower * 1x Fire-pit Additional amenities: * Outdoor Finish sauna: £20 per group of up to three people * Logs for the fire: £5 per bag

Father and Daughter team, Nick and Sophie started spoon carving to help improve their wellbeing and mental health, however, it’s become more than just a pass time, it’s become an obsession! We prefer to carve spoons in our back yard, but in the rain and snow, we retreat indoors. Our wood chippings have spread around the whole house!
