Maker's bio

Father and Daughter team, Nick and Sophie started spoon carving to help improve their wellbeing and mental health, however, it’s become more than just a pass time, it’s become an obsession! We prefer to carve spoons in our back yard, but in the rain and snow, we retreat indoors. Our wood chippings have spread around the whole house! We started our own business in 2018, The Gosman Spoon Co, and now sell our spoons online and offer beginner’s spoon carving courses.

"Carved my spoon yesterday (and a little achy today) but a fantastic course that I'd highly recommend. Plus I have my brilliant hand carved spoon to remember it by!"

"Fantastic course from Nick. Really helpful and encouraging. Debbie kept us refreshed with tea and coffee as well as showing us various finished items to aspire to. Came away with a spoon and a hunger to learn more."

Gosman Spoon Co. responded:

"Thank you Guy! Please stay in touch if you’d like any more information."

Paul Smithiez reviewed: Advanced spoon carving techniques

"Had a very pleasurable couple of hours with Nick. I've carved quite a lot of spoons but have only had brief tuition. I brought a couple of spoons along to discuss and where I thought I wasn't happy with some aspects of them. Nick talked me through his process, Nick is more of a production carver. He uses a lot of drawer knife but the way he drew the crank on was interesting and useful, easy to follow and logical. I will try and remember the steps he showed me I think it will speed up my procesd and I might actually have a process. Thanks Nick"

Gosman Spoon Co. responded:

"Thanks so much Paul. If you need any more help and advice please let me know."
