Open Art Sessions... are open to all abilities and all mediums (with the exception of oils) and run each Wednesday except over Christmas/New Year
CoVid19 update! The hall is closed at present. New dates will be added once the hall is open.
There is a free car park directly across from the Village Hall
All artists work on what they find inspiring with guidance given by Kate.
Places are limited to 8 maximum to ensure the group remains small enough to be friendly and ensure everyone has plenty of support.
Experimenting is encouraged for the brave but not required! Most artists will begin to 'go for it' once they have settled in, however, these sessions are 'yours' and every artist progresses at their own pace.
It is a painless way to absorb information and develop skills, find your own style, make new friends and enjoy yourself!
Booking is essential, payment is required at the time of booking. Regular attendance is not required, however, refunds can't be given once you have booked but substitutions are welcome allowing you to retrieve your payment from them!
Weekly in advance £13.50
There are sometimes one or two places available so please contact me if you would like to join us via the 'Ask a Question' button.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
Since all artists are working on their own projects, materials are not provided for these sessions.
Hand sanitiser or soap to be used on entry
Sadly refreshments are no longer provided so please bring your own.
Social distancing is in place with only 1 one artist per 6ft table in a large hall, although that means plenty of room to spread out!
Each table is sanitised between sessions, chairs are rotated between sessions and one way system is in place with artists entering and leaving the building by separate doors. No entrance permitted to anyone outside each group.

A relaxed, informal and informative workshop with the emphasis on enjoyment. Lots of tools and tips to help beginners see a subject through an artist’s eyes. Kate loves teaching - and it shows. Highly recommended.
Response from Kate West:Hi Christina, thank you for taking the time to leave a review it’s much appreciated as was your contribution to making it such an enjoyable afternoon (they are not always quite as good as this one as the artists themselves help make it, but shhh don’t say anything!) Kate 🙂
I enjoyed this drawing workshop as I had never been to one before and it made me look at images in a different way. Trying out different types of pencils was very illuminating and has whet the appetite to pursue this hobby.
Response from Kate West:Hi Caroline, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. You helped create a lovely 'working' group and so good to know that you now see the world a little differently and are inspired to pursue your creativity!
Excellent introduction to drawing. Kate was an extremely good teacher - patient and kind. The afternoon was very well structured with instruction and mini exercises first and then time to put it all into practice by creating our own drawing. Plenty of supplies available to try different pencils etc. All in all a very enjoyable and instructive afternoon.
Response from Kate West:Hello Gilly, Caroline, Jane and Pip, not sure which one of you lovely ladies has left such wonderful review but whoever it was thank you!
Art and painting has come to life for a true beginner with the patience and knowledge of a very understanding tutor. Kate has been amazing and the classes a joy to attend.
This is a wonderful course. I have learned so much and produced work that I would never have thought possible, improving all the time. Thank you Katy.
