Jackie Small reviewed: Stained glass leading for beginners

"It was a real privilege to spend a day with someone as skilled and talented as Jamal. As someone who loves bring creative but who lacks any natural artistic talent this course was perfect fit me. He patiently took us through each step of the stained glass leading process. His instruction was clear and his level of support just right. I would never have believed I would be carrying hone my own little price of lovingly crafted leaded stained glass at the end of just one day! Spending the day in his cosy little studio, with classical music playing softly in the background, thinking about nothing other than crafting my piece was almost like therapy. I felt totally relaxed when I got into my car to drive home. I am considering taking up Stained Glass as my new hobby as I enter semi-retirement. I know enough to get started tomorrow but need to decide whether my commitment is strong enough to justify the initial investment in all the tools and equipment."

Maria Taffs reviewed: Intermediate glass fusing at the Cheshire School of Glass

"Jenny taught us all so much in 2 days. A wonderful experience and we all learnt so much. I had been on a basic fusing course prior to this one and would recommend both highly to anyone interested in learning kiln- based glass skills to anyone."

Suzanne Harrow reviewed: 1-to-1 tailored course with one of the UK's leading glass artists Jennifer Barker, at the Cheshire School of Glass

"I am a Secondary school teacher in school in Staffordshire. I came with a specific plan to learn how to use kilns , prgramme them, teach pupils glass techniques safely and find out costs of materials and where to purchase them. This course exceeded my expectations. Money well spent with an exceedingly knowledgable teacher. a wonderful day."

Rose Dargett reviewed: 'Glass for the garden' with the Cheshire School of Glass

"A well put together course that anyone would enjoy who likes being creative. You don't have to have worked in glass before to do this course, there was a mix of people on the course from beginners to people who had kilns. Jenny , the teacher catered for all levels with ease. Wonderful results in a lovely setting. All materials and refreshments included. I will go back and do more courses. It was good value for money I think."

Sarah Barnes reviewed: Introduction to glass fusing at the Cheshire School of Glass

"This was the best crafts course I have been on and I've been on quite a few over the years. Jenny has a lovely studio on a farm with great facilities. We were all welcomed ( there were 4 of us ) , with coffee and cake and given a really good introduction talk that explained the process of glass fusing. The day went far too quickly, it was a wonderful mix of creativity, good company and learning new many skills. I collected my pieces the next day and couldn't believe how wonderful everything was that came out. Everyone made 3 big wall panels - you can have them framed by Jenny in the week - which I did order, for my favourite piece and it looked really good!"

TONY BUTCHER reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"We had a fantastic weekend, with the right amount of information and practical help. Sebastian was great, being encouraging and supportive as well as giving precise directions when requested. He has an approachable, relaxed manner, which allowed us to explore and find our way in what was, for us a totally new and unfamiliar adventure. We each managed to almost complete the piece of work and we feel confident that we will finish it either at home or come back for another great weekend. A thoroughly enjoyable experience."

Peter and Bryan reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Absolutely fantastic day led by some totally awesome people. Bought this for my Dad as a thematic birthday present after he drunkenly convinced everyone he was descended from Vikings. Neither of us have done anything like this before so we weren't sure what to expect. Fire... Metal... Hitting things with hammers... It's got it all. After we arrived and were fully warmed through with flapjack and coffee Adrian got straight into it, explaining and demonstrating each step of the process with practiced ease. There was plenty of space for everyone, with one anvil each and two people per forge meaning you were completely free to experiment at your own pace. After the practice pieces were finished we moved straight on to the more complex piece which required a little more teamwork and perseverance but came out looking fantastic. Again Adrian and Andy were on hand to provide support, advice and laughs throughout. Lunch was fantastic - warming homemade vegetarian chili cooked by Debbie followed by mind blowing crumble and a great atmosphere. Altogether can't recommend this enough for anyone looking for a real experience that's a little different. Thanks again Adrian and Debbie for an unforgettable day!"

"I have just come back from a wonderful day with Emma. I learnt so much in a few hours and have come home with a lovely piece of glass work. Emma is really good at teaching you what to do but making you do it yourself so the piece is very much yours. I thoroughly recommend giving this course a go"

Karen reviewed: Business candle making workshop - one to one

"Having attended two of Kerry's candle making workshops previously and being a massive candle lover I decided I would like to start my own small business but hadn't a clue where to begin! After today's Business Workshop I feel confident to get things up and running and see how things evolve. Kerry willingly shares her extensive knowledge of the science of candle making and the tricks of the trade ?. Such an interesting and enjoyable day, I left with a wealth of information and two fabulous candles that I made myself with ongoing support available when I need it from the lady herself. Thank you so much Kerry xx"

Pauline Rice reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"What a wonderfully hosted, delightfully located, well-paced, inspirational, instructive and - above all - creative, fun day! Both Jonathan’s craft and inter-personal skills are outstanding, in every possible way. Patience is, they say, a virtue - and Jonathan has it by the bucket-load! Quietly observant and gently instructional, he is determined to do the very best to support your aims. Small-group guidance through the day was well-structured into morning skills-building (tools familiarisation and techniques, working with copper, to produce take-home rings and keyring/other), leading on to design discussion, over lunch - then production of personal silver piece of choice in the afternoon. I am so delighted with my take-home necklace and thank Jonathan so much for his determination to ‘make it happen’. What are you waiting for!? Go on ... you know you want to (or know someone who does)!"

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Wow! What kind and thoughtful words. Thank you Pauline. I am very happy that you managed to achieve your goal with your silver pendant. It was tricky but the best things are never easy. Many thanks Jonathan"

Jen Scott reviewed: Mosaic making class

"Dawn recently ran a lovely mosaic birthday party for my 9 year old daughter. We chatted beforehand about timings etc and what we could do with the girls, most of whom had never done a mosaic before, and Dawn couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. She arrived in plenty of time to set up and brought all the materials and equipment with her, which made things easy for me. Our party was for 8 girls which was a good number, as Dawn could get round everyone to help and advise. Dawn brought an assortment of shaped boards including foxes, flower pots, bunnies and hearts and a variety of different tiles (all pre cut, no sharp edges) so the girls could design their own unique mosaic. It took the girls about an hour to do their boards, and then Dawn helped clear up before taking them away to be grouted. I picked them up a week later and handed them out to the girls and they are absolutely thrilled with them. Dawn had even attached ribbons or wall hangers to them so they could be hung up straight away. I would highly recommend a mosaic party with Dawn for anyone with a child who is creative, likes crafts or simply wants a party with a difference!"

Jigsaw Mosaics responded:

"Thank you Jen for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. It was my pleasure, I think I enjoyed it as much as the girls did!"

Karen Gilmurray reviewed: Felt picture making workshop in Rugby!

"Making a felt picture was great fun. Each step was explained before you had a go yourself and Karen was always there ready to offer help, advice and encouragement. Merino wool is very tactile, smooth and soft to touch and the colours are so enticing! Anyone could do this workshop; you don’t need to be artistic, just able to lay out your chosen picture in wool. The wet felting gives movement to everything and that gives life to what might otherwise be just a static ‘copy’. It’s fascinating to do because you never quite know what the results will be! But a warning, it is addictive…"

Maxine Ross-Wallis reviewed: Felt picture making workshop in Rugby!

"I am about to do my 3rd felting course with Karen and I'm already hooked! Karen is an excellent teacher and everyone always creates something beautiful to take home with them. The courses are small and friendly and great value for money. A course with Karen would make an excellent gift for a crafty friend too. And Karen's homemade cake is always a yummy treat."
