Olivia & Liam reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"We spent an absolutely fantastic half day at Ian's workshop making a pair of rustic stools. With little prior knowledge of the skills involved, Ian taught the basics of green woodworking, and through his gentle guidance and demonstration, we learnt so much from the day and returned home with two beautiful stools that we are so proud of. Ian's workshop is wonderful - full of interesting bits and bobs, and it was great to spend time with someone so dedicated and enthusiastic about his craft. We hope to return soon on another of his workshop days - and would highly recommend Ian's courses to anybody- keen woodworker or complete novice. Thank you Ian!"

Linda reviewed: Beginner's sewing course - bags and bits with Craft My Day

"Rachel was so lovely and patient. The course taught us how to use a sewing machine and then we came home with a home made bag. Facilities were excellent and tea/coffee offered too. Small groups, so lots of help available at all times. Looking forward to another course in the future. Thank you Rachel for a lovely morning, and yes I've bought a sewing machine."

Howard Peel reviewed: Blacksmithing Beginners day courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"At 46 this is the first review I've ever left - the course was so enjoyable & valuable, I'm compelled to make comment. Ade 's instruction was spot on, plus I was picking his brains on all things blacksmithing, I learnt so much - the day flew by. I'm quite amazed at the pieces I made, by far exceeded my expectations. I'm a veggie & gluten intollerant, Debbie & Ade could not of been more accommodating. I'm defiantly setting myself up at home with a little fire pit & anvil in the garden to play. In todays world of smart phones & tech, to be in that room in front of a fire pit hitting a glowing red hot steel bar on an anvil was so grounding, primal, it felt just great! I urge all to give it a go - let the stress melt away. 10 out of 10, I'll defiantly be back for more."

Lindsay Mills reviewed: Willow Christmas reindeer

"Great to be back at Willow Barn with Victoria and accompanied by daughter and daughter in law to be. Excellent constructive help and encouragement from Victoria and we all succeeded in producing very different reindeers . They were much larger than anticipated and packing three plus ourselves into the car continued the enjoyment of the day. Partners were suitably impressed, the deer will join piglets from earlier in the year! Many thanks Victoria we may well return again with your new ideas for classes."

David Hall reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"A great new experience with a fun, informal group of fellow novices. Steve's expert understanding, and guidance, meant we could all (especially my 15 year old daughter) be proud of our designs. Steve was even happy to discuss our ideas before the course; I recommend giving him a ring and bringing any stencils with you, so you can make the most of your day! With endless creative possibilities, the resulting glassware is mesmerizing with both bold composition and intricate detail. The only negative is that it's SO addictive!"

John Fowler reviewed: Treatment free beekeeping in horizontal hives - Leo Sharashkin

"Having already read "Keeping Bees with a Smile" and "Keeping Bees in Horizontal Hives" it was a no-brainer when I learned that Leo Sharashkin would be giving this course in the UK in November. The course lived up to all my expectations and his explanations of techniques for sustainable beekeeping were clear and thought provoking. In particular his treatment free approach will be my mission for 2018 with my colonies. If this course is repeated in the future it would be beneficial to hold it in the active beekeeping season so practical session(s) in the Apiary could be used to reinforce the subject matter. I would recommend this course whole-heartedly to any beekeeper with an open mind."

Chris White reviewed: Treatment free beekeeping in horizontal hives - Leo Sharashkin

"Excellent presentation by Leo Sharashkin. He gave time for people to ask questions and take notes which was needed due to the amount of information provided. I will certainly be applying as many of the sustainable methods he suggested as I can."

Shirley Hewitson reviewed: Machine made lined curtains

"I attended the one day course recently to learn to make 'Machine Lined Curtains' this was despite being an absolute beginner who was useless at sewing lessons when at school. After contacting Janet and talking with her I felt quite happy to attend as no experience was required at all. Janet was a very good teacher, showing me how to work out what material I needed with 'her easy chart' and gave helpful handouts and instructions for me to refer to in future. All materials and tools were provided by Janet and I came home with a curtain made by myself and came away from the class with a great sense of achievement and very proud of myself. Lunch was provided by Janet also which was very enjoyable. All in all I had a real pleasant day, in fact the day flew by and I was sorry to be going home as I had enjoyed myself so much. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone. If Janet can teach me to make curtains well all I can say is anyone can learn."

Jill Griffin reviewed: Mosaic workshop at Jackie Nash Art

"I booked this course for my friend's 60th birthday present and I must say it was a wonderful day. Jackie was warm, friendly and offered the right level of support and encouragement. She was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. She was happy to provide gluten free biscuits and cakes as my daughter and I follow a gluten free diet and cake for the birthday girl and her daughter. Jackie makes you very welcome in her home and the studio is an ideal learning environment. It was really special that there were only the 4 of us on the day so it felt very personal. We were all pleased with the mosaic we produced and I would say it is one of the very few courses you can do if you are a beginner but also would suit people of all skill levels. I would highly recommend the workshop to anyone, we had a truly fabulous day."

Vicky Pearson reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"What a fantastic day! I really enjoyed myself and am SO pleased with what I made. Can't wait for them to be hung in place in my kitchen. Steve is a great teacher - relaxed, easygoing, giving input and suggestions, but letting you do what you want. I would highly recommend thinking about your design before the day and sending pictures to Steve before the course (which is encouraged and recommend anyway). That way, you know what you are thinking about is possible, and you can get on with making the necessary stencils before the day and therefore not wasting time on the day doing things you can do at home! Giving you more time to work on your piece (and maybe have time to make some little pieces too ?) Thanks for a great day, Steve, and good luck with the move to Devon."
