About the Course
In this relaxed, friendly workshop which runs from 2-5pm you will learn how to needlefelt and will create your very own felted picture which I will frame up for you to take home.
We will start the workshop by getting familiar with the different wools and silks and the various needle felting tools and how they work. There is plenty of time to practise your needle felting and no prior experience is necessary.
Once you are feeling confident we move on to creating your felted picture ready to frame up. You are welcome to bring your own inspiration for this or use one of the many cards and images that I have at the workshop.
We are in a gorgeous location and this is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy creating your very own piece of needle felted art.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

I don’t view myself as particularly creative so it was with a bit of trepidation I signed up for one of Jo’s classes. I shouldn’t have worried! Jo was so warm and welcoming and set before us the most beautiful array of coloured wool. She explained the process clearly and we all set to work creating our own feltings. We all had a great time, chatting and felting. There was a lovely warm atmosphere and I ended my session feeling relaxed and rather pleased with what I had made. Which Jo framed for me, it looked really professional.

Jo is so good at helping bring the group together. She helped everyone get through their nearvousness at trying something new. It was amazing what everyone managed to create. The way she made sure everyones work was framed up made it even more precious because it could go on the wall. Its a really great group experience. Highly recommend it, even to people who don't feel 'arty'. Its like going to an art class too. Jo gave so many clever colour tips that made it all look so professional.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing, afternoon.
Jo was very good at explaining the craft and also very encouraging about our efforts. There was a warm friendly atmosphere and we all had our own creation to take home with us. The venue was lovely and peaceful.
I would like to do more!

I cant think of a more wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. Jo was lovely, created a relaxed and informal atmosphere, chatting about life before we started. If I had felt any concern about my ability to participate she would have washed it away with her soft lilting words. The explanation of how to use the tools was clear and helpful and gave me courage to try straight away. The cacophony of felts and spectrum of colours available was spectacular we were encouraged to handle, caress and feel a connection to the materials which inspired my idea of what I wanted to do. During the process of creating my 'merry dancers' I asked for advise which was given quietly and as suggestions and ideas without demonstration which was ideal because my piece remained my piece. I would attend again in a heartbeat! Thank you Jo for your inspiration.

Lovely morning spent at Jo's class. I was nervous to try something new but Jo made me feel at ease, explained the process well and supplied a fantastic range of wools for us to use. It was extremely enjoyable to come away with a finished piece that I created and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the variation of work around the table. Currently awaiting delivery of supplies to carry on this relaxing and rewarding hobby at home. Thanks Jo!

Very enjoyable felting workshop at Dalkeith Country Park. Good venue. Jo was very friendly and the course was a great introduction to needle felting with an excellent range of materials available. It was very satisfying to be able to produce something worth framing in just 3 hours! The only significant disappointment was that there were no original examples of Jo's work to view; I had very much been looking forward to seeing these and I am sure they would have been inspirational.

Fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The colours available were so numerous and vibrant, the atmosphere was relaxed and informal, Jo was so welcoming and allowed us all to work at our own pace and ability to create pieces which surprised and delighted all of us. Thank you Jo!

What a relaxing, yet productive way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Felting is something I had never done before but Jo explained it all so well then let us all have a go.
The results were so different.
Great fun. Thank you.

A really great course, Jo was so helpful and even though I’m definitely lacking in artistic ability I ended up making something I’m delighted with! Highly recommended!
