Description

Come and learn to make felted soaps for your friends and family at The Court Street Gallery in Trowbridge. Felted soaps are soap and washcloth in one! They help to make the soap last longer, help to prevent the soap from going soggy in the soap dish and act as a gentle exfoliator. They make unique gifts and the process is fun and relaxing. For the first half of the session, each person will get to have a go at wet felting merino wool onto several handmade soaps in a variety of colourful patterns. For the second half of the session, we will be needle felting designs onto some pre-felted soaps. You will take home 5-6 soaps at the end of the 3-4 hour session. All the soaps provided are handmade by Catherine of Herbal Harmony and are palm oil free.

What's included in the price?

Each person will wet felt 3-4 soaps and needlefelt 1-2 soaps to take home. All the soaps and wool are provided. The soaps are handmade by Catherine and are palm oil free and made with essential oils. Refreshments are provided during the class.

After finishing my degree in Herbal Medicine, I set up Herbal Harmony in 2005 and began making natural skincare to treat my clients and sell to customers. Over the years I developed & extended my product range into hand creams, face creams, lip products, cleansers, cold process soaps and felted soaps. I’ve recently moved from Dorset to Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire and teach a range of Soapmaking and skincare classes alongside making my own natural soaps and cosmetics.

"Read the review below from Yassamin first ..... I am the lucky friend who had this as a present. This was one of the most chilled out afternoons I have had in a long time. The whole ambience was perfect you could not sit & learn a craft like this in better surroundings or a more relaxed tutor. We arrived to tea & biscuits, chatted, wondered at the garden ...then got down to the felting. That was just perfect too... two different parts, first the felting where we covered the soaps then the second part was the needle felting where you had a go at bringing out the artistic side of your nature. The best part of that is that if like me it is very lacking then it is quite forgiving. I warned Catherine I was so absorbed I was staying for a minimum of at least 7 hours, but alas that did not happen as we had to leave and get back to 'real life'...... at least we had our soaps to take with us!!"

"I have just spent a wonderful afternoon learning two different soap felting techniques at Cat’s idyllic studio. I bought this as a birthday present for my friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The studio is set in Cat’s garden surrounded by beautiful countryside and behind her impressive vegetable patch which is also full of orange and blue flowers. We were greeted with the scent of lavender, geranium, neroli and many other fragrances from the cold pressed soaps that Cat makes. It was a halcyon afternoon under Cat’s careful but relaxed supervision We drank tea and chatted and felted three soaps each which is a relatively easy process to learn but there is every opportunity to be creative with your designs too. I can’t recommend this workshop highly enough."
