Silver clay Warwickshire

Description

About the workshop

Silver clay is a fantastic medium for creating silver jewellery, its versatility allows you to create incredibly intricate patterns with relative ease. Like the name suggests, it's a clay like material that can be shaped just like any other form of clay but when it's fired (with a torch) it becomes solid silver and can even be hallmarked as fine silver (99.9%). This full day workshop allows you plenty of time to really get to grips with the processes and skills you'll learn. As it's such a versatile medium you really can make a range of jewellery, from pendants and charms to earrings, you'll come away with some gorgeous pieces to take home.

Who is it for?

Beginners onwards. Please note that a good level of dexterity and eyesight is required. Over 16s with accompanying adult.

What will I learn?

- Rolling clay to consistent thicknesses - How to shape, cut and texture the clay - How to stamp and hand engrave - Adding multiple layers of clay - Sanding and filing - How to torch fire your jewellery - Polishing, refining and adding different finishes to your silver - How to add clasps and findings to finish your jewellery

What shall I bring?

Reading glasses if you use them, it's very good to be able to see! Also to keep you safe it's best to wear closed toed shoes, tie long hair back and avoid loose flappy clothes :)

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

We provide all the equipment you will need, including 7g silver clay to make your pieces and findings for the finishing touch. A delicious lunch is included plus tea, coffee and sweet treats throughout the day. We finish the day with a glass of prosecco giving you time to admire your creations.

Fantastic experience and a very enjoyable day. I was a complete novice, having never made anything before - Kate is very encouraging, really good at explaining what you need to do step by step, demonstrating each of the processes and great at supporting you with your ideas of what to create.
It was lovely to meet new people, who all made the day even more special.
The setting of the course at the Jenny Ring was great, we were very well looked after with refreshments, lunch, cake and prosecco!! I would highly recommend the experience. Thank you for a great day x

What a fantastic course! As a compete beginner I learned so much in just one day, thanks to Kate and her excellent teaching. Loved the day and will be booking another course with Kate. I couldn't recommend this course more highly, absolutely brilliant.

Second course with Kate. The first was stacking rings. Wow!, silver clay is a delight to work with and the only limitations are your imagination.
Kate was as helpful and informative as ever. I came away with some beautiful jewellery and the confidence to order a kit to continue creating at home.
I would highly recommend Kate's craft courses.

I was completely new to silver clay but I came away from the workshop feeling like I could produce high quality pieces. Kate was so informative and the perfect guide; patient and embraced all our artistic ideas- nothing was too much trouble. The venue was great and lunch extremely tasty. Needless to say I’ll be booking more workshops with Kate to improve my technique. Highly recommended.

I have been working with silver clay for a while now but felt I would benefit from a bit of guidance. I've just advanced a few years worth of skill in one day, well worth the money. I cannot recommend highly enough, thank you Kate.

I had an amazing time on this course. Kate is such a patient teacher and has so much knowledge. I went on another silver clay course with someone else but didn't feel I learnt very much. I learnt sooo much more on this one. I know I'm going to be able to make my own silver jewellery now!
