On this full-day introductory workshop - suitable for beginners or those that have taken our silver clay jewellery taster workshop - you will learn how to design, make, fire and polish three different pieces of jewellery.
Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, Edinburgh jeweller and silver clay specialist Anna Campbell will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.
The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (at home a crème brulé torch will also do the job). The resulting pieces are silver of hallmark quality - modern-day alchemy!
You will make a pair of earrings, a stone-set pendant and a moulded charm. You will learn how to make your own silicone mould to use with silver clay, so if you have any small charms, shells, buttons etc you would like to bring along to mould please do! If not, a selection will be provided for you to choose from.
Our artists will support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
The price for the day includes access to all the equipment you will need, all materials, refreshments and a buffet-style lunch. And of course you get to take all the products your have created home to enjoy and inspire you, or to give to family and friends as unique gifts.

Hello ElainThis entire day was a delight. The working space, in Lynn's home, is gorgeous, and enormous thought and care was taken over every aspect of the experience. Delicious snacks and lunch! The excellent tuition and guidance from Anna helped me make earrings and a rose mould, and I am definitely inspired to do more silver clay. Fantastic value for money, I had a lovely time, thanks so much Lynn and Anna.

Hello AlisonHi Lynn
I was on the silver clay course today.
Firstly can I say what a beautiful house you live in and secondly the quality and quantity of food and refreshments served was amazing. Thank you so much I enjoyed everything.
Can you please pass on my thanks to Anna. She was so knowledgeable, informative and her experience, passion and love of jewellery shone through. The course exceeded any expectations I had. I can’t wait to learn more and look forward to seeing you again.
Thank you both for a fantastic day.

Response from The Arienas Collective:
Hello GailA well run enthusiastic workshop that taught me new skills that I hope to develop further. The welcome and hospitality was generous, a convivial lunch was well presented and the break fitted well into the day. I went on a Sunday when we were told the time was more limited, but we did get everything done within the time allocated so perhaps we needn't have been told this! I will certainly look at other courses at The Arenas Collective.
Response from The Arienas Collective:
Hello Liz. Thanks for your lovely feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed the course and working with the amazing material that is silver clay. You're right about the timing: I had actually got the finish time mixed up with another Sunday workshop which you might have noticed when Anna corrected me! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Arienas Collective soon. With best wishes, LynnI highly recommend this course, a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Lynn warmly welcomed everyone into her beautiful home, the venue for the course and provided refreshments for everyone as they arrived.
The course was very relaxed, well presented and well organised. Anna demonstrated how to make a variety of pieces and her instructions were clear and explicit. Questions were welcomed and answered clearly and succinctly.
Everyone relaxed over an amazing lunch, organised by Lynn's husband, thanks go to him.
I learned a great deal about Silver and Silver Clay and I am delighted with the jewellery I made.
I have already recommended and given details of the course to a friend.
I look forward to another course.

Very well presented course with all materials that are needed provided as part of it. We all made several items, Anna was extremely helpful and explained everything very clearly. Notes were made available to us afterwards to save us writing things down, and all questions were answered clearly.
The location is fabulous, a really beautiful setting that was relaxing and comfortable all day. The refreshments were extremely good, lunch was fabulous and way more than I had expected being included in the price.
Strongly recommend, and will be looking for other courses by the Arienas Collective myself!
