On this full-day intermediate workshop - suitable for those that have taken any of our Silver Clay beginners workshops - you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver ring.
Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, Edinburgh jeweller - and silver clay specialist - Anna Campbell will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.
You will make a 'flat band' and a 'D profile' ring. a pair of earrings, a stone-set pendant and a moulded charm. You will learn how to design your rings, calculate your size to take shrinkage into account, make your own bespoke pieces and embellish with textures and a gemstone.
The rings will be taken away for kiln firing at the end of the session and can be collected from The Arienas Collective at an agreed date, or will be posted to an address of your choice within one week of the class. It is recommended that rings are kiln fired rather than torch fired. If you want to make a ring for someone else please remember to check their ring size before coming!
Refreshment breaks - featuring locally sourced products - are an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby who we love to support. You will start the day with a welcome coffee served with a selection of biscuits, and our buffet-style lunches feature summer platters or warming winter soup with bread and cheese. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.
Our artists will support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Please note: The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to ring making. I booked it immediately after doing the shorter course! I found it to be a very relaxing day, in a fabulous venue. I wear my rings every day- and I still can’t quite believe I made them! I’d recommend the courses to everyone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We're so glad to hear that you are wearing your rings with pride. Rightly so! And, YES you really did make them :-) It's amazing the creativity that lurks within us all just waiting to be released. And it's so lovely that you also felt like your time with us was relaxing. We couldn't wish for more.
This is the third time I have gone to a silver clay course at The Arienas Collective with Anna Campbell. This time I went with my daughter. We had a lovely day in a relaxed friendly environment with an excellent and patient teacher. We were both very pleased with the rings we made and were surprised at the level we managed to achieve. I would strongly recommend both The Arienas Collective and Anna Campbell.

Hello Denise. Thank you so much for taking time to leave us a review on Craft Courses. We're delighted that you and your daughter enjoyed your silver clay ring making class. And thank you so much for becoming an Arienas silver clay regular! The rings looked fabulous when they left for the kiln, and even better when they were fired and polished! You should be really pleased with yourselves. :-) Hope to welcome you back again soon. Best wishes, Lynn x
I did this with my mum and had an amazing time! I learned a lot, the teacher was experienced but also patient and it was very relaxed and comfortable. I was incredibly pleased with both the rings I made (one for a friend and one for my mum) and so were they!
The Arienas Collective:
