Description

Have you ever wanted to design & make a piece of your own jewellery? Do you want to gift a unique piece of jewellery to someone close to you? Or do you just want to learn a new skill? Join me in my workshop in the heart of the Kent countryside for a personal tuition jewellery-making workshop and I’ll help you create something completely unique to take home at the end of the workshop. Suitable for beginners, workshop half days can accommodate 1 to 4 people in your group (price is per person), so why not get some friends / work colleagues together and come along? Please remember to select 'quantity' for the total number of people in your private group when you check out. As the session is completely designed around you, you can choose to make: - Rings - Earrings - Bangles - Cuff Bracelets - Cuff Necklaces - Pendants - Cufflinks - Or anything else that you would like to try (assuming it’s possible!) The half days day run from 10:00 to 13:00 or 14:00 to 17:00 and as this is personal and designed around you, you can select dates that work for you. You will learn traditional silversmithing techniques including forming, sawing, sanding, filing, hammering, annealing, soldering and polishing, and leave at the end of the workshop with your own unique piece(s) of jewellery. My workshop experiences also make an ideal birthday, anniversary, wedding or Christmas gift, as well as an unusual, stag/hen or corporate team-building event.

What's included in the price?

The silver to make one basic piece of jewellery is included – additional silver, brass and copper can be purchased on the day if you wish to make more or different pieces of jewellery. Personal tuition in a fully equipped workshop in a delightful garden setting. Refreshments. Fun!

"I was given a voucher as a gift and chose the private jewellery making half day course. I don't consider myself artistic at all and have some problems with strength and dexterity in my hands so I was fairly dubious about whether I would actually be able to make anything. I needn't have worried at all. Sara was friendly and welcoming from the start. I decided I would like to make a pair of earrings. Sara showed me how to use the tools and I was able to practice on copper wire to start with while I got used to everything. It was brilliant to have 1 to 1 tuition as Sara helped me through every step and I was amazed that I had a wearable item of jewellery at the end of the session, thanks to Sara. I had a very enjoyable morning."

Sara was very friendly, kind and casual and gave us clear and concise instruction, guided us through every step and helped us create some really beautiful pieces of jewellery. Sara was also incredibly helpful with other information about silver working and I feel confident about trying it by myself. The course is set in a lovely area, was very easy to get to and it was wonderful to see so much wildlife too, as well as Misty the gorgeous dog, we felt very welcome and at ease which doesn't happen often. The equipment is great to use, and with guidance it is fun to try a few different methods. Il be happy to rebook and will be recommending to all my friends."

"I signed up for a 1-1 day workshop and had the most amazing day! Sara was warm, personable and very thorough in explaining processes and techniques during the day. The studio is situated in a stunning environment and fully fitted with all necessary tools and equipment. As I had hoped to make a pendant and a ring, I was delighted that there was time to make the pendant in the morning and after a light lunch, had time to make a spinning/meditation ring during the afternoon. Sara works with you on your design ideas and has an extensive range of raw materials to work with. Her studio was immaculate and a very clean, professional working space. The session was totally hands on so you really feel that you have made your pieces at the end of the day, from design, cutting out, filing, soldering and polishing. The atmosphere was very relaxed and would totally recommend either a half-day or full-day session. I am already thinking about what I can make on my next visit! The jewellery world is your oyster - you can enjoy making earrings, bracelets, pendants, rings, etc. Totally recommend this workshop as, unlike larger classes, you gain personal attention where Sara will work with you on whatever you choose to make and you can work at your own pace with guidance as and when required. I had such a chilled day and already looking forward to another workshop. Also, if you love pooches you will be in double heaven; if not, don't worry, Misty can have a day off from helping in the studio."

"Took my own, rather challenging design, which I had discussed with Sara in advance. The day started with a warm and friendly introductions (including Misty) and coffee. Instruction commenced soon after in a neat workshop in Sara's beautiful garden. Covid protocols were followed. Instructions were clear and concise, followed by a short demonstration prior to getting hands on. Sara has a very positive "not a problem" "we can sort that out" approach. This gives confidence during the hands on sessions and importantly I would emphasise the "we can" comment. Any problems were carefully considered and a solution found, allowing me to rectify where possible. Sara also helped where it required a more experienced solution, but in no way took over. The item was designed and made by myself with a Sara's guidance. The project was completed in the half day session, and as a first attempt the results were excellent. Yes it looks hand made, but in a good sense, that is exactly what it is! I would have no hesitation in recommending Sara's workshops, and in fact, I am already thinking about another design to allow me to gain more experience in areas that were not covered. Thank You Sara"
