Jewellery Workshop - Make a Silver Ring

X

Description

Come along and discover your own creative flair and learn some professional jewellery making techniques with jewellery designer Sheila Roussel. In this workshop, you will be guided through the step by step process to create your very own ring for yourself or as a gift. You will experiment with copper, creating a variety of textures using different hammers, punches and files. You will learn how to shape, file and solder copper to make your practise ring. This will give you confidence in using the same techniques to make your silver ring. You will be given a choice of what kind of finish you'd like for your silver ring e.g. polished, satin finish or oxidised. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. NOTE: Please contact me first to enquire if the date is available as all the dates are on request. Children over 12 can attend with an adult.

Maker

I currently design and make my jewellery from my studio at home in Birkhill, Angus, making work for private commissions, exhibitions and contemporary gift shops. I studied Jewellery and Metalwork at Duncan of Jordanstone , Dundee and graduated in June 2014 with BDes (hons) 1st class. My background is in Community Learning and Development and I currently work in the V & A Dundee as a freelance designer; as an Craft and Jewellery tutor with Fairmuir Adult Association and as the Craft tutor with NEST Creative Spaces, Blairgowrie. I also run beginners jewellery workshops which are advertised here and on my Facebook page. My jewellery designs are influenced by the beauty of natural forms, their vibrant colours and delicate structures. An ongoing collection of heirloom keepsakes, trinkets and charms adds further inspiration to my work. My designs evolve from immersing myself in making collages, sketching, photography and experimenting with a range of techniques and materials. Taking these initial ideas I make a variety of individual elements using textured sterling silver, hand patterned aluminium and semi-precious beads. These pieces are used either individually or combined with each other to create my collections.
