I currently design and make my jewellery from my studio at home in Birkhill, Angus, making work for private commissions, exhibitions and contemporary gift shops. I studied Jewellery and Metalwork at Duncan of Jordanstone , Dundee and graduated in June 2014 with BDes (hons) 1st class.
My background is in Community Learning and Development and I currently work in the V & A Dundee as a freelance designer; as an Craft and Jewellery tutor with Fairmuir Adult Association and as the Craft tutor with NEST Creative Spaces, Blairgowrie. I also run beginners jewellery workshops which are advertised here and on my Facebook page.
My jewellery designs are influenced by the beauty of natural forms, their vibrant colours and delicate structures. An ongoing collection of heirloom keepsakes, trinkets and charms adds further inspiration to my work.
My designs evolve from immersing myself in making collages, sketching, photography and experimenting with a range of techniques and materials. Taking these initial ideas I make a variety of individual elements using textured sterling silver, hand patterned aluminium and semi-precious beads. These pieces are used either individually or combined with each other to create my collections.

Jewellery design workshop - silver pendant or silver earrings
"I was gifted a voucher to make a ring with Sheila. She was very welcoming and her studio had a lovely atmosphere.
As I have issues with my hands swelling she gave me the option to make something else so I went for a pair of earrings instead.
She is very patient and guided me through the process.
Would highly recommend Sheila to others.

"We booked a silver-making workshop with Sheila to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and it turned out to be such a wonderful and unique experience! Sheila was warm, patient, and made the entire process so enjoyable and memorable. We had an amazing time creating something special together, and it truly made our anniversary unforgettable. We would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a creative and meaningful activity, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again. Thank you so much, Sheila, for such a fantastic experience!"
Sheila Roussel Jewellery Design responded:
"It was lovely to meet you both on your special day. I'm glad you had such a good time. I hope you'll wear your rings and in the future will bring back memories for you.
Just get in contact if you want to return to make something else.
Regards, Sheila"
"I had such a wonderful experience! There is not better way to start your weekend, I am over the moon :)
Sheila is an excellent tutor. We worked on a silver pendant and created something very special and lovely. "
"Thank you Sheila for a wonderful jewellery workshop. It was a lovely way to celebrate my friend’s birthday with a special piece of jewellery to show for it! Sheila was so friendly and warm - she taught us the basics with a practise piece of copper and then showed us each step of making our chosen silver earrings/pendant. Time flew and we enjoyed the experience so much. Would definitely recommend. "
