Course Start DatesMonday 17th February 2020
About the Course
In this taster workshop, you will create a pendant or pair of earrings from hallmark-quality silver with jeweller Anna Campbell.
You will learn how to make jewellery out of a material called silver clay, which is made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water. Silver clay requires with very little equipment so it's perfect for those wanting to learn a new skill they can easily do at home.
You will be taken through all the steps to create your own piece ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (but a crème brulée torch will do the trick!). You’ll then polish your silver jewellery ready to take home.
This taster class is perfect for giving you an idea of the possibilities of this unique material. You can then choose to move on to a full-day workshop where you will make 3 different pieces (these dates are also included), or to one of our more advanced jewellery making workshops if you wish.
Spaces on our workshops are limited to allow artists to offer one-to-one help and support.
All The Arienas Collective workshop experiences are also available as a private group booking. Please email us for details.
Please note that The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The price for the workshop includes access to all the equipment you will need, all materials and refreshments. And of course you get to take home the jewellery you make!
A very big thankyou to Lynn and Anna for their warm welcome & the fantastic silver clay taster session - the perfect way to spend an afternoon! Really proud of what I created and still amazed by the alchemy of turning a piece of clay into fine silver. Already looking to book a space on the Introduction course!

Response from The Arienas Collective:Hello Karen
I attended a workshop as part of a family group with ages ranging from 13-75. We all had a great time, made some unique pieces of jewellery, and would recommend this workshop to anyone.
Lynn was fantastic, arranging everything for us and welcoming us into her home. Anna is a brilliant teacher, keeping things relaxed but informative, and we really appreciated her rushing back from Glasgow to run the workshop for us!
The location is great, too. It's a very easy 5-10 minute walk from Waverley. Can't wait to go back and learn more!

Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Ann! We were delighted to welcome you and your lovely family to The Arienas Collective: it's always special to see different generations getting creative together. What a fabulous range of silver clay jewellery designs you all designed! Anna and I are so glad you all enjoyed the workshop and were happy with the unique jewellery you made. Well done to everyone, and we hope to welcome you back here very soon. Best wishes, Lynn :-)
I attended the introductory course on Tuesday 20th August. I am not one for going to new things on my own and certainly not creative events like jewellery making, however, it was given to me as a gift so nervously I attended. The evening was amazing. So relaxed and comfortable. Lynn and Anna were very welcoming. There were lovely refreshments in a fabulous environment. The jewellery making was fun and I learnt loads. I also came home with some lovely pendants which friends and family are very impressed with. Thank you to both Lynn and Anna for a great experience and confidence booster.

Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Angela. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We're delighted that you overcame those nerves, and discovered that inner creative we knew was in there all along! It's amazing what you can achieve with the right help, support and encouragement and we're so happy that you enjoyed the experience and left with enough confidence to keep creating. You should be rightly proud of those fabulous pendants you made! Hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes, Lynn x
I loved our afternoon spent learning about the miracle that is silver clay. The welcome from Lynn was warm and the small group really bonded well. Anna was friendly, informative and really helpful too. Everyone produced amazing jewellery, I'm really proud of my double star necklace and heart charms.
I highly recommend this as a fantastic gift for yourself or others and hope to be back again soon.

Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Elaine. Thanks for the lovely review. And we absolutely LOVED your double star necklace too! It's always so exciting to see the different jewellery people create from the same raw materials. And we're particularly glad when people surprise themselves with their own creativity (which of course we believe is in everyone just waiting to be released!) We hope to welcome you back to The Arienas Collective one day. With best wishes, Lynn :-)
I really enjoyed my afternoon getting my first taster to silver art clay. A note to anyone thinking about a workshop here, you are guaranteed a warm welcome in a warm and friendly creative environment. Met some lovely people. I am already looking forward to the next one.
Rachel Collins - - #21505
Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Rachel. Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your silver clay jewellery class: isn't it a fantastic material to work with! I hope you enjoy wearing your lovely jewellery. And I'm delighted to hear you felt warmly welcomed. We always aim to create a welcoming, social environment, but it's the people who come to our workshops that bring the space to life. So thank you for being such a great group! We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best wishes, Lynn x
I attended the class on Monday 1st April and had a fantastic afternoon with Anna and Lynn.
Anna put us at our ease straight away and was there to give all the help and advice needed. I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to try a different craft, it is great value for money. All my friends are amazed at the earrings I made on my first attempt. Thanks
Ella - - #21150
Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Ella. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the workshop so much. I'm not surprised your friends were amazed at the earrings you managed to create on your first time working with silver clay - they looked fabulous! Hope to welcome you back to The Arienas Collective soon. With best wishes, Lynn :-)
Attended the silver clay taster workshop last night- utterly blissful way to spend 3 hours! I was quite nervous attending by myself, but there was an extremely warm welcome on arival and Anna was so lovely that I felt I was with old friends within minutes. The session was so informative and I was astounded with what I made with no skills or artistic talent, and in such a short period of time. I am delighted with my silver necklaces and cannot recommend this course highly enough. I am so keen to experiment with silver clay that I`ve put it on my birthday wish list. Thank you ladies for being so talented, inspiring and just down right lovely- hope to see you again soon.
Kirsty Stevens - - #20253
Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Kirsty. Thanks so much for your really lovely comments. We believe there's a creative inside everyone - and we're delighted you discovered your inner creative on Anna's silver clay jewellery workshop! We hope your birthday wish comes true so you can continue making silver clay jewellery at home. Keep in touch to let us know how you get on. And we hope to welcome you back to The Arienas Collective soon. Best wishes, Lynn :-)
Had a great 3 hours at this introductory workshop. Lynn was a friendly hostess keeping us supplied with snacks, hot drinks and Anna is a very experienced qualified jeweller who guides everyone through the silver clay process and so inspired me that, within a week, I’ve already booked another of her full day workshops.
Go along, give it a try!
Debbie - - #19177
Response from The Arienas Collective:Thanks for your lovely review Debbie. We're so glad you enjoyed your workshop, and are looking forward to welcoming you back for the full day course with Anna. I hope you'll enjoy that just as much - and learning those new skills of mould making and stone setting! Best wishes, Lynn
Took a friend along to this on Tuesday evening for her birthday present. Enjoyed a great evening, everyone really friendly and a lovely setting to be in. The time flew by and I'm so pleased with the jewellery I made. Would definitely recommend this, and will definitely look out for the full day course. Fabulous evening, thank you so much.

What a fabulous day this was. A group of us had got together to celebrate a (big) birthday and we each designed and made a necklace for ourselves and a special charm for the birthday girl (- before celebrating with a glass of fizz which was included for the occasion!), We all went away feeling inspired to do more - and I have been wearing my necklace ever since. The process was made remarkably easy as we were taken though it step by step. Although it is described as a taster workshop, we all produced amazing jewellery, and its definitely inspired me to go on and do more.
Anne A - - #17242
Response from The Arienas Collective:Thanks for your feedback Anne. A silver clay taster workshop is a fabulous way to celebrate a special birthday occasion, and we do always include a glass of fizz and cake too for private groups like this one. We enjoy running these so much, and you all made such amazing jewellery - as well as having a lot of fun! I'm glad it's inspired you to continue, and we look forward to welcoming you back to learn some new silver clay skills with Anna! Best wishes, Lynn :-)
