Mixed Media Textiles - Shell & Coral Inspired Sketchbook

Join renowned textile artist Anne Kelly for two days of hand embroidery and textiles collage to make a cover for a sketchbook inspired by shells, plants and corals.

Over the two consecutive days you will create a sketchbook cover and then embellish it whilst also creating some original collage art based on the sea theme.

Atelier Beside the Sea is perfectly placed directly on Brighton beachfront to provide inspiration and you will also use a range of visual materials as well as fabric samples to gain your ideas.

Anne will expertly guide you through the process of layering materials, using mixed media textiles and hand stitching to create a piece of truly unique art work.

This is a two day course. Please note day one runs 10.00 - 17.00, day two runs 11.00 - 16.00.

Anne Kelly is an award-winning Canadian born, UK based artist, author and tutor. Her multi-layered and densely stitched textiles have been likened to ‘small worlds’. Her teaching and gallery work take her around the UK and abroad.

Anne’s four books for Batsford connect her practice with her teaching and project work. She exhibits in solo and group exhibitions, nationally and internationally and has been artist in residence in a beautiful garden in Sussex and a hilltop village in Italy. She is a member of the Embroiderers Guild UK, the Crafts Council Directory the Society for Embroidered Work and the European Textile Network.
