Description

If you would you like to make your own sinamay halo contemporary headpiece - ready for a wedding, summer party, or special event - in a colour to coordinate with your outfit and learn some basic millinery techniques along the way - then this is the course for you! On this all-day course, based at my kitchen table, you will learn how to manipulate the classic summer millinery fabric - sinamay - to create your very own fabulous halo-style wired headpiece, and then decorate it with a choice of trims. The day will give you an overview of working with sinamay - including manipulating the bias - as well as how to make sinamay trims including lilies, loops and swirls, to finish your own sophisticated headpiece. This hands-on course is suitable for beginners, though some sewing skills are helpful, and runs with two students only, from 10-4.30 with a short break for a light lunch. Location of the workshop - I alternate the course between central Newcastle NE1 and Northumberland NE67, so if the course is not listed at the particular location that suits you, please get in touch for the next date at the alternative location.

What's included in the price?

All millinery materials and equipment to make and decorate a sinamay halo headpiece in colour of your choice - select from - white/black/navy/neutral/viva magenta - please get in touch to discuss your colour selection. If you have a sewing kit please bring this along. Vegetarian light lunch is included - please feel free to bring along your own snack however to suit your dietary requirements. Please note that the floral option is an example of a halo headpiece decorated by the student with flowers of her choice, these are not included in the course. If you are interested in creating a headpiece finished with flowers as your trimming option, please bring along a selection of small to medium size silk style artificial flowers and I will guide you as to the position and attachment of the flowers you have provided.
