Description

This full-day millinery workshop offers a comprehensive experience in crafting a cocktail hat from start to finish. Participants will be guided through each step of the hat-making process, from blocking the base to adding the final decorative touches. Whether beginners or those with some millinery experience, this workshop is designed to be both educational and inspiring. The workshop begins with the fundamentals of blocking a base shape, such as a button or teardrop, using either buckram or thermoplastic, depending on personal preference. This foundational step sets the stage for the entire cocktail hat design. Participants will then learn how to wire the hat to ensure it retains its beautiful shape. After establishing the structure, fabric will be applied to create a smooth, professional finish. Techniques for curving Petersham ribbon and invisibly stitching it into the hat will also be covered, adding a refined touch. With the base complete, the focus shifts to the exciting aspects of trimming and decorating. Various techniques such as feather manipulation, veiling, and additional decorative skills will be explored. These methods will enable participants to add character and flair to their cocktail hats, ensuring that each creation is truly one-of-a-kind.

What's included in the price?

All necessary materials will be provided for the workshop. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric if they have a specific colour, texture, or pattern in mind. This personal touch allows for a unique creation that truly reflects individual style and ensures that the finished hat is something to cherish and love.
