About the Course
Join award winning textile artist Jacky Puzey for workshops, talks and artistic collaboration, exploring local women’s issues through contemporary crafts.
Combining traditional embroidery skills with innovative digital technology, Jacky uses fur, feathers, tweed and organza with drawing, laser cutting and digital embroidery to explore her distinctive imagery and style; incorporating a rich palette of colour, material combinations and treasures into her work. In 2016 Jacky was selected by the Crafts Council to be part of the prestigious Hothouse Maker scheme and has been recipient of the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery.
The banner-making workshops are open to women 16+ and focus on text and textiles, echoing the practices of the women’s suffrage campaign and will be spaces to consider the power of the vote today and our shared future.
The banner collectively made will represent and celebrate the diverse voices of women and girls from different backgrounds throughout the county and represent the women of South Lakes in the once-in-a-lifetime national event "Processions" (14-18 NOW & Artichoke).
There will be an additional opportunity to travel to Edinburgh on the 10th of June to join in the mass parade with thousands of women from across the country. Your creation will be exhibited at Lakes Alive 2018 and venues across the county.
