This exciting course of enamelling on copper explores the skills and techniques of kiln enamelling, a colourful course. We'll be exploring enamelling step by step, learning to fuse finely powdered enamel onto the surface of copper to create beautiful glossy glassy surfaces. These ancient techniques were first used by the Chinese, Greeks, Celts and Egyptians to decorate metal and add colour to metal jewellery and other precious objects.
During the day session, we will experiment with a range of decorative techniques to create your own one-off pieces, to make your own unique jewellery or small pieces. We will demonstrate and guide you through the processes involved.
As the workshop progresses you will learn the different firing stages and have the chance to do this yourself. Enamelling is a process, where you can layer colours on top of each other to create very interesting one-off pieces. Throughout the workshop each student will decide which techniques they would like to continue exploring to create your pieces. Everybody will go away with three to five pieces. Numbers are kept low for this workshop to allow for guided tuition and the opportunity for discussion.
We run this workshop based on 2 people minimum attending and a maximum of 4.
All materials for your pieces will be included. Any additional pieces will incur a fee for additional materials used.
You can contact me to arrange booking dates and if you wish me to find a second person I will do my best.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
We include refreshments through out the day of tea, coffee or squash. We also provide biscuits to keep your energy levels up.
You will need to bring a lunch to enjoy but we ask for no seafood due to my allergy. You will need to avoid wearing clothing with long floppy sleeves as they will get in the way and jewellery which dangles in the way, closed in shoes and long hair tied back for safety.

Thank you Rachel, a most amazing day, I enjoyed every moment, and I’m very pleased with the pieces I made and excited to start wearing them.
Having never experienced enamelling before you had plenty of patience and I really learnt loads, I will love to come back one day and do more.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere.
I would highly recommend this enamelling workshop and great value for money.
Response from 2 Inspire You:Thank you so much.
If you’re looking for a basic taster course this was very enjoyable.
Response from 2 Inspire You:Thank you Anne
I thoroughly enjoyed my day enamelling with Rachel. We were made so welcome and the cabin we worked in had a lovely outlook over the garden and woodlands.
I ended up making a few pendants and a pair of earrings over the day to take home with me. There was a wonderful selection of copper blanks and enamel colours (plus bits and bobs to add texture /detail) so you could let your creativity run wild! I was really pleased with how some of my pieces turned out and I have definitely got the enamelling bug now!
Would highly recommend this course!
Response from 2 Inspire You:Hi Jo,
We had such a great day. We have managed to learn about the basics of enamelling . Rachel is such a patient teacher who helped us all the way through until we finished our pieces. We can't wait to come back to further deepen our knowledge and technique in enamelling.
Response from 2 Inspire You:Many thanks to you all. It was lovely to see your family relax and enjoy yourself! The apple was truly fabulous and the pieces you all made had such wonderful colours. We look forward to seeing you again soon. The deck is now finished and a lovely place to sit and enjoy the garden. Hopefully the weather will be better too.
Enamelling is great! So is Rachel as a teacher. This course was in a very lovely setting which really sets the mood and scene for creativity, it is so much easier to feel creative in a woodland garden. The pieces I made are much better than I thought I could or would and I am really pleased with the results.
Response from 2 Inspire You:Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed yourself and it was great to have such good weather to make the garden shine and inspire you further. Your pieces were beautiful and it was wonderful to have the chance to explore lots of methods during the day. I look forward to seeing you again on the next step of your journey in enamelling.
