"Alison was a fantastic teacher and such a lovely person! She was so accomodating, made sure we used the time we had to ensure we had something to show for our efforts and she also makes a stellar hot chocolate! Nigel Hymas reviewed: Beginners 1-day pairs woodturning workshop

"Thank you for this course which my son, Hugo, and I greatly enjoyed. Simon's love of what he teaches really shone through and that inspired us both! He seemed to strike just the right balance between active guidance and periods of letting us have a go on our own. Simon's perfectionism was admirable, and his encouragement to us that we aim for shapes that pleased the eye and hand as far as possible was a valuable challenge. He imparted loads of very valuable advice during the day about various aspects of wood turning, tools, equipment etc and even sharpened some of my own chisels for me! The next day we received extremely helpful online copies of his illustrated teaching notes and information about equipment etc. Finally, thank you for the refreshments during the day and the delicious lunch. All in all, a great day!"

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Hi Nigel, Thank you for your heartfelt review. It was great having you and Hugo in the workshop for the day and we’re so glad you enjoyed it. As we said on the day, if you have any questions or need any help, please do get in touch. — Simon & Louise"

Bex Clowes reviewed: Come Frame With Me - Making your own Picture Frame

"I recently spent the day with Ady at his studio in Norfolk framing a print I bought my daughter for Christmas. I'm not very technical minded but really wanted to see how one would go about framing a painting or print. Ady was a very patient teacher, he explained the different stages clearly and at a pace I could keep up with! Throughout the day his lovely wife Cath appeared with tea and biscuit breaks and aswell as lunch which kept our energy levels up for all the hard work! If you want to learn the basics of framing and mounting a painting or print this is an excellent starting off point. Ady kindly answered all my questions on the proccess and was happy to help with suppliers information as well. If I hadn't had to rush home to look after two toddlers I would have enjoyed spending a little more time practising and asking more questions. Although I still managed to walk away with a framed print and a load of new knowledge on the art of picture framing, a great day in my book!"

Studio 93 Framing responded:

"Thank you for your review Bex. It was great to meet you and I had a really enjoyable day too - your frame looked fab! All the best for the future and I’d be more than happy to help if you do decide to take up framing as a hobby in the future."

Victoria reviewed: Resin art course for beginners

"I had a great workshop with Norman today, aimed at beginners. This was ideal for me as we started from scratch. After lots of the theory (don’t worry, there are detailed notes given at the end) and plenty of tea and snacks, I got to create two main pieces of art. The process was absorbing and the end result an interesting mix of choice and chance which I am told will continue to change for the next few hours. I am looking forward to the end result. Although times are flexible, Norman‘s usual start time is 10am. I would thoroughly recommend this course."

Reson-8 responded:

"Many Thanks for your review Victoria, was a pleasure to work with you and you will be happy to note that your art pieces did not move too much from the original. Best Regards Norman"

Gerry Prior reviewed: Recycled China Mosaic Workshop Full day /Half Day

"I can really recommend Adela’s Recycled China Mosaic Workshop. It was such an enjoyable morning, spending 3 hours in Adela’s amazing studio, with good company and learning the basics about mosaics before sifting through broken china to create our own. Adela was kind, patient and helpful and totally inspirational for me as a beginner. A big thank you Adela. ?"

Izzy Bee reviewed: Live Online Linocut Printmaking Workshop (private workshop for three)

"I booked an online workshop for my Mum's 80th birthday (for three people in total). Claire was fantastic in explaining everything clearly and was very patient. Her online set-up was brilliant for remote teaching. My Mum really enjoyed the workshop and was printing just this morning! I already had a little experience with lino cutting, but I learnt so much from this workshop that I now feel I'll be able to progress my skills using the knowledge that Claire shared. I'd recommend this workshop both for complete beginners and for those have dabbled before but not had any instruction."

Christine Hartis Emms reviewed: Mokume Gane - gift making, polymer clay

"Had a fabulous afternoon with Helga creating some interesting pieces. She explains everything very well and has a range of things which you can create from your polymer clay design. It was great to learn a new technique which hopefully can incorporate into my other art works. Highly reccommend for those looking for something a little different from the norm."

Colourbuzz responded:

"Thanks Christine, I had a lovely time too and was mightily impressed with your take on Mokume Gane brooches!"

Pauline reviewed: Spring wreath with gorgeous artificial flowers and nest detail.

"Jenni attended to my order well and even though I was sent the wrong wreath kit in error she compensated by sending the correct wreath kit free of charge which I thought was a lovely gesture. My friend has both the wreathes - she is the artistic one - and I'll be taking photos once they are done. She loved the assorted silk flowers and nest detail and was excited to make the wreath"

Jenni Wren Creative responded:

"Hi Pauline, thank you so much for your lovely review. In the end turns out she did get the right kit after all.? It was a post office error allocating the weight and receipt to the wrong order but as it was a birthday present, I wanted to make absolutely sure and sent an additional kit. I am so pleased that she is looking forward to making the wreath kits and I am sure they will look lovely when completed. I am looking forward to receiving the photos and I am sure by the second one, she will be quite the pro ?. All the best, and thank you for supporting my small business. It is so lovely to seeing my designs 'come to life' so to speak, but each person being able to put their own stamp on it. Jenni"

Hannah Mulholland reviewed: Create a ceramic animal sculpture with Twisted Earth Ceramics at Ilkley Manor Studio

"A brilliant day, can certainly recommend this course and Richard our tutor. He made sure, through encouraging support, that we all created a superb Highland cow. They were all different with different personalities. Richard carefully explained and demonstrated each step throughout the day. I would certainly attend one of his courses again."

Kathryn reviewed: Beginner woodwork - 1 to 1

"Great from start to finish. As a total beginner, Phillip took time to understand what I wanted to achieve and the sessions were well planned so that I used a range of tools and techniques. Phillip kept it fun, informative and well paced. Very happy with my project and the experience."

Quicksticks Workshop responded:

"Hi. As this was a custom project to frame your earlier stained glass project, we were both taking a leap of faith in the design and practicality for a self described 'beginner'. But well done, it looks great."

Jodie Morgan reviewed: Enamel Jewellery Workshop - 1 Day - One to One

"I was taught by Rachel in December 2021, I did two courses, the enamel day course (in person) and the silver clay course online. Firstly the setting that you do the course is stunning, Rachel has a lovely studio that is well stocked with everything you could possibly think of needing. The teaching is intuitive, in that you can see Rachel follows your lead, if you need more time on a particular aspect she can see you need that, if you need freedom to create you are afforded that. It is learning you everything you need to know in a style that is tailored to you. I have genuinely had a lovely time learning various mediums with Rachel, the support after the course and encouragement is reassuring. Any questions you have about the process you were taught in she will happily help you. If you are after a course just for a fun day to craft and learn a new fun skill or because you want to start selling your wares, I can highly recommend Rachel’s courses. I can’t wait to book more courses:)"

Gifted Crafts Company responded:

"Thank you Jodie. You are so kind. I really appreciate you taking the time to review. So thoughtful. Love seeing what you are making on social media. Well done! You did so well and it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and so lovely to stay in touch. Rach"

Christine Rigden reviewed: Cat's Cottage: one day creative writing & confidence building with Cat Weatherill

"I had a great day in Cat's writing workshop, and did some thought-provoking exercises. She's a mesmerising storyteller, and I hope I was able to absorb some useful tips for drawing people into a story instead of simply recounting an event. Lovely cottage venue, atmospheric and cosy, and some great conversation!"

Karen reviewed: Book binding - Zoom Saturday Morning Workshop

"This course was bought as a gift for me and I was very satisfied with how the course was lead. Everything that was needed for the workshop (except for a pair of scissors!) was sent well in advance and the finished product was just beautiful. There was plenty of time for each step of the book making and everything was explained very clearly. Would highly recommend."

Crumps Barn Studio responded:

"Lovely, so glad you enjoyed your gift. Thank you for joining us! ~ Crumps Barn Studio"

Victoria Oaten reviewed: Rag rug/rag wreath making day in North Herefordshire

"Brilliant course, I am really pleased with what I was able to achieve on the day. We learnt the main rag rug making techniques plus had a go at a few other techniques. I love being able to make something useful and creative out of old rags. Jenni was really nice and obviously very skilled. I'm off to chop up things to make more rugs!"

Jenni's Rag Rugs responded:

"So glad you enjoyed the day and that you feel pleased to use recycling creatively. I look forward to seeing your finished seat mat (keep on chopping things up....)"

Victoria reviewed: 1-to-1 Beginners Leatherworking Workshop

"I have enjoyed a packed leatherworking day with Pipa, her guinea pigs and cat. There was lots to cover in a day, from what leather is and is not, to working with its properties, tooling, dyeing and stitching. Pipa’s enthusiasm and expertise were shaped to work with what I wanted to get out of the day. Pipa was generous with her time and skills. As a complete beginner in this area the day worked really well as a introduction to all things with leather."
