Ian reviewed: Sharpening carving knives and axes

"I would throughly recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn the dark arts of knife sharpening. Robert was a great tutor, showing, explaining and guiding with clear and concise instructions. Where I was unable to follow a certain action, Robert offered another way that suited my abilities. Even though the course was for three hours, Robert continued on till I was familiar with the skills I required to sharpen my tools. Robert is a very knowledgeable and friendly person who made the course an enjoyable experience. "

Touchwood Glasgow responded:

"Thanks for the lovely kind words, Ian, it was a pleasure to work with you through the sharpening processes. Hopefully you've got a good idea how to keep your tools in ship-shape now. I discovered that you'd left a honing stone some days after our sharpening night - it was camouflaged in amongst all the woody things on my workbench, hence it escaped our eyes when you were packing away your equipment! I will keep it for you, and you can drop in sometime that suits you to pick it up. All the best - and thanks again ?? "

Jon Z reviewed: Forge a Knife- Blacksmithing and Knifemaking Experience Day

"Top 1-1 day at the forge. Really didn’t know what to expect as it was a present but really enjoyed. Super relaxed but informative from Jon. I made a lovely kitchen knife to the shape I wanted. I felt totally safe in his hands and picked up some bits pretty quickly while others took a little more guidance. Be prepared as it’s a physical on your feet kinda day but that’s what I was expecting. Can’t wait to use the new knife in the kitchen."

Lewis Calder reviewed: Work of Iron | The Forge on the Firth of Forth | Edinburgh | 1-Day Blacksmiths Knife Making

"I bought this course to make some props for my Dungeons and Dragons game and I got exactly what I wanted, During which I made a Hook as a beginning project, A signet ring with a sun engraving and another project. It didnt feel too professional/strict, it felt very casual and calm and not that I had to rush to get it finished within a certain time. Jack was a kind instructor and gave me enough space to do it at my own pace without leaving me clueless as to what to do. I didnt have an exact design for what I wanted so when I got there we sketched something that fit what I wanted. I wasnt available for any of the given dates so we talked and were able to change it to a monday. Overall It was a very fun course and im glad I did it and now have experience in this skill, I will likely get it again sometime in the future"
