Description

A 3hr long intensive 1-to-1 workshop teaching a number of the techniques of sharpening. Participants will be expected to bring their own tools for the purposes of the workshop. The workshop will be run on weekday evenings at my private studio space in Glasgow's southside from 6.30pm-9.30pm.

What's included in the price?

We will be concentrating on the 3 following wood-carving tools: • Axe • Slojd (traditional carving) knife • Hook knife The format of the workshop will be run as follows: - Tool edge inspection/analysis - Introduction to motorised grinders - Stepped honing with stones/different stone types - Stepped honing with abrasive paper grades - Stropping and bur removal Emphasis will be focused on the hand-sharpening techniques, which is critical for those who want to sharpen up their tools in a non-workshop environment - ie in the woods, in a bothy, etc. Through these steps and techniques, you will acquire the essential skills and knowledge to effectively bring your own tools up to razor-edge sharpness. All materials will be provided + tea/coffee/biscuits.
