Christina Towell reviewed: Seat caning for beginners

"I spent a lovely day with Edward. He showed me the basics of seat caning, was very patient as I fumbled my way through the process and I was so happy with the results. He gave me plenty of advice and tips to help me complete a project at home, even stripping the drop in seat for me ready for me to tackle. Lots of cups of tea and putting the world to rights as we worked. A great way to learn a new craft. Many thanks Edward."

"+2.5 hours absolutely flew by. Learnt sooo much. Everything set out well and explained, including the science! Only downside is I could have done with a coffee break. And I think 13 was possibly 3 or 4 people too much? Apart from that highly recommend this taster course!"

Erin reviewed: Day classes in traditional blacksmithing ... make an item to take away

"We had a lovely day with Rudi and Rico the dog (so friendly), at their forge. My teen son and I were both beginners and left with several items each that we are very proud of having made! We felt welcomed, and not rushed, but also that we did loads of heating, hammering and shaping. Rudi was happy to explain everything to us and demonstrate more than once if needed. He also assisted physically with tools etc when needed, making sure that we were safe and happy throughout. A full day of real blacksmithing... Would definitely recommend! The facilities on site are basic but the views are beautiful. Don't forget to wear layers and bring a pack up! "

Aardvark Blacksmithing responded:

"Thank you Erin for the review Really glad you both enjoyed it Was a pleasure and fun teaching you both and hope the things you made prove usefull Many thanks Rudi "

Saif reviewed: Beginners DIY & Home Maintenance Workshop in Warrington, Cheshire (1 Day)

"I did the Beginner’s DIY course today with Jo, and as a complete novice it was pitched perfectly to my level. There are plenty of small jobs around the house I’ve always thought most people could do, and now I feel confident I can tackle them myself. I really enjoyed the hands-on approach, using drills, putting up shelves, wiring plugs, and more. Jo is a fantastic teacher, she is clearly passionate about empowering people with practical skills. The cakes were also super tasty! I’d thoroughly recommend this course to anyone new to DIY. Thanks Jo!"

The Boho Shed responded:

"You were an absolute pleasure to teach Saif. Thank you for your glowing review and kind words, I'm delighted you now feel more confident in tackling those jobs you've been wanting to do in your home. I will pass on your lovely comments about the cakes to my Mum the baker. :-)"

"This course is BRILLIANT. I cannot recommend this one day upholstery course enough. Lucy spends time with each student and shares many extremely helpful tips as you upholster your piece of furniture. My sister and I learnt so much and are delighted with everything we achieved. We’re very keen to go back and do another day. Thank you Lucy! "

Roundedby responded:

"Thank you so much Hayley! It was so good to have you and Claire at the workshop - you both worked so hard, and achieved brilliant results - I think you were unbelievably resilient stripping the chair (I have just finished a sofa which had 4000+ staples - not even making that up!, so believe me when I say I know how tough it can feel). I really enjoyed working with you on the pattern placement too, so many animals! Can't wait to see the finished chair. Thanks again, Lucy"
