Ally reviewed: One day Wood Carving Experience

"Loved every minute of this course. It was hands on from the start (which I really enjoyed) with Pete to share his experience, ideas & techniques as we worked on our individual projects. The workshop is lovely, filled with light and the most beautiful rocking horses. I came away feeling that I learned a lot and with the confidence to start on wood carvings at home. Highly recommended! "

Ian Baldwin reviewed: Stained Glass using the Copper Foil Technique

"Had an excellent day with Elaine and another lady on the course. Elaine is a great tutor and we both made lovely suncatchers which I would not have believed we could have achieved in the time! I had a small amount of experience in this beforehand but working with an expert for a day taught me more than I could have learned myself in months, it is so worth it to get the correct practices and techniques, the whole thing becomes so much more enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend."

Stained Glass by Elaine Alexandra responded:

"Thank you for reviewing your day spent making a stained glass sun catcher. I am really pleased that I was able to add to your knowledge and I hope that you are able to use this as you work on your own and develop your skills. You should be very proud of your project :) With Best Wishes, Elaine"

Jenny reviewed: Spoon carving and Whittling Day

"I had a very enjoyable day with Colin and Sarah at the Spoon Carving and whittling course on 29th September ,  I was a complete beginner and they explained how to use the tools, different cuts and when to use them.  They explaind the techniques clearly and made sure I used the tools safely . We also covered different types of tools and how to sharpen them and how to finish the spoons with sanding and oiling.  They were happy to answer any questions and give advice on design, tools and techniques.  I feel much more confident to try whittling on my own and am happy with the spoon I produced. The workshop was in a beautiful location and it was an interesting and relaxing experience with some lovely people.  I would recommend this course to anyone."

The Wiggly Path Company responded:

"Thank you Jenny We really enjoyed your company, it was a grand day, and we are really glad you enjoyed it, there is a lot of information to share and take in, but at the end of the day you produced a wonderful tool for life. We sincerely hope you will continue your journey into the marvellous world of whittling and carving Sarah and I were so inspired by your rug crafting skills, you have fuelled our desire to bring more craft projects into our home, thank you. If there’s anything we can do to help you on your journey please let us know, we would be more than happy to help. Very best wishes Take care Colin and Sarah "

JG reviewed: Bespoke Contemporary Fine Art Encaustic Wax Workshop.

"Lyn's two day workshop, encompassing an introduction to encaustic painting and then how to embody photos within an encaustic painting, was comprehensive. I had no previous experience of using hot wax. Lyn took me through the process, enabled me to experiment and understand the basic methods and the possibilities. She has clearly thought out how to present the information, with clear handouts as back up, and structured practical work. I came away with five pictures and a wealth of ideas! Highly recommend! "

Steve Bragg reviewed: Charcoal making and drawing at Walderchain Wood, Canterbury

"Wonderful experience! Learnt so much about the entire process of charcoal making through Mark’s expert knowledge and by simply having a go, in a safe and welcoming setting. After lashings of tea, and Christina’s delicious lunch, Kim’s insightful drawing tuition got us thinking about how to see the woodland quite differently and in a very interesting and fun way. We’re very lucky indeed to have the opportunity to do this. I drove all the way home with a big smile on my face - a great day with lovely company in a simply beautiful setting. Thanks Mark, Kim and Christina can’t wait to use my new charcoal again."

Walderchain Wood responded:

"Steve Thank you for joining us and for taking time to review your day here. Glad you enjoyed it and got so much from it. Keep drawing. All the best Mark"

Leon Armstrong reviewed: One day welding course for two people

"My work colleague and I did this course recently and both thoroughly enjoyed it! We began around 10am, with a chat on the theory and after a couple of demos from Julian we were then more or less straight into getting hands on with practical! Neither of us had any previous experience, but under Julian's tutorage we became quickly confident in using the kit. The day was in no way linear and the pace was good. Julian, tailored the day to our needs and we were able to practice the techniques in ways which would be useful to our daily work. Julian was very patient and obviously very passionate about his trade. It was 7pm before we finished and we were sure Julian would have stayed longer had we wished to do so. Great course led by a great tradesman. Thank you"

Julian Wadsworth - Artist Blacksmith responded:

"Thank you Leon for your great review. You both picked up the skills really well, and I am sure that you will be able to carry out making and welding the light fabrications at work. Any problems or issues then please feel free to get in touch. Julian"
