Joyce Vaughan reviewed: Introduction to candle-making as a business

"Made to feel very welcome and at home. The course was brilliant adding perfumes to such lovely candles makes them ideal presents or keepsakes. Jo knows what she is talking about and her instruction was first class. The whole environment was beautiful, the kitchen and the views adding to the experience. I have had several experience days from chocolate tasting to segway and this was by far the best. Well done Jo I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone."

Julie reviewed: Spoon carving course (1 day)

"What a great day! It was everything I wanted it to be - informative, friendly, welcoming, with a great (small) group of like minded people. We started by choosing a piece of branch (cherry for me) and learned how to split it and use an axe properly to shape it into a blank. Then onto using straight and curved knives to create the spoons we wanted. All were different and wonderful. The setting was perfect, with a woodburning stove crackling away while the wind and rain (February) did its worst outside. The sense of quiet absorption as we all settled down and concentrated on our carving as the afternoon went on was just magical. David was good company and very generous with his calm encouraging tuition. Lots of really lovely food - I have particularly fond memories of the cake!"

"Beatrice manages to further her students’ skill sets while at the same time encouraging original work and growth of the individual’s imagination. This results in an enjoyable and fulfilling experience and there is even something to show for it when a project is finished! Chris Cross"

Kim Pritchard reviewed: Beginners Glass Fusing 6 Week Course

"A great class. A lot of fun and really well taught by Sarah. Everyone had different levels of experience but we were all able to learn lots about glass and how it can be used to create individual and unique pieces. Couldn't wait every week for the next lesson, 6 weeks just flew by, now I want to go back for more."

William reviewed: Beginners 10 week woodworking course NO LONGER RUNNING

"Like most people I came to do the course hoping for the best & fearing the worst. However in Ciaran you have the best possible teacher for those who want to try their hand at something new. He manages to make you feel at ease whilst teaching, is clear & concise, funny, helpful, generous with his time & knowledge & managed to coax the best out of everyone on the course. A great bunch of people with a great teacher, endless supply of tea & biscuits with a free pub lunch thrown in everyday! What more could you want? I'm definitely booking in for my intermediate course & look forward to learning more from the 'master'. :)"

Becs Buss reviewed: Kiln Formed Glass in Cornwall

"What a brilliant day! I was a bit nervous at first (especially about the glass cutting) but Fi's relaxed and knowledgeable manner meant that I relaxed in no time. It was such a lovely experience - I felt like a child again, playing with beautiful coloured pieces of glass, yet creating something beautiful. I had never done anything like this before but that didn't matter, Fi guided me where I needed it and let me find my own way the rest of the time. I would highly recommend this course. Thanks Fi."

Melanie Stansfield Glass reviewed: Woodturning courses in Hampshire - Beginners and improvers wood turning courses - Turn British, all British lathes!!

"I gave my Partner a day with Andy learning wood turning, and did the course with him. It was a super day. Andy was warm and welcoming. His workshop was professional, and safe. His equipment was very high spec and well cared for. Andy was very reassuring , and encouraging, and my Partner was delighted to be able to get on with his bowl and experiment under Andy's watchful eye, or ear. I would highly recommend this course. I learnt so much about holding the tools correctly and the different effect of different cuts. And we both took home beautiful bowls we had made."

Sophie Brook reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"Fantastic, fast-track introduction to woodwork. I went into the course with zero woodwork experience and came out with a lovely looking side table. Unfortunately, it is so professional that my friends and family don't believe I produced it myself! I also learned how to use the fundamental tools (lathe, saws, chisels, drills …), cut/shape wood, make basic joints (biscuit, mortice and tenon …), finish items (sanding, waxing …) and setup a workshop (space and tools required). The volume of knowledge you gain in such a short period is mostly down to the fact that the instructors empower you to get going and doing it for yourself from the very start, so it's very much learning on the job. What's more, this course isn't just for complete beginners; the choice of projects and small class size mean that instruction can be tailored to the individual and students are encourage to ask lots of questions! Last but not least, the atmosphere of the course is spot on thanks to the down-to-earth, friendly and funny instructors, Richard and Mark, thanks g"

Sophie Brook reviewed: Five day woodwork course - wood

"Great for quickly gaining the capability to get off to a flying start in woodwork. I did this course straight after course one (tools and things) and it was definitely more challenging, but absolutely do-able thanks to the very supportive instructors, who both have a wealth of cabinet making experience. In this course, I produced a beautiful side table-table, for which I employed fairly advanced joints (e.g. tongue and grove) and techniques (e.g. draw fitting). I also learned about the attributes of different wood types as well as how to select, store and prepare wood. The range of different experience levels among the four students in the class was vast, with me still being a beginner and one student having already made lots of fairly complex furniture, yet each student was really able to improve. Finally, the tone of the course is perfect thanks to the down-to-earth, friendly and funny instructors, Richard and Mark, thanks guys!"

Warren reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"To Anyone reading this review: Do not hesitate booking with Rosanna and here's why: Thank you so much for an awesome day, your knowledge, experience and a lovely lunch. You have certainly instilled in me a healthy respect for leather crafting. Nothing is ever as easy as it looks. You have the patience of a Saint. I will be acquiring some tools in the very near future and will attempt to amuse you with photos, not only with any success but also with some failure along the way. Cough…erm.. failure will be short lived though. I have a feeling we’ll definitely cross paths again. I may be in touch re: advice on supplies too. I am usually a “go in all out” kind of person, but for only this time ;-) lol I don’t want to be the jerk with all the gear and no idea … So... baby steps. Warren"

Philippe Lacey reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"A great day for a complete novice. Mark's style is easy-going with the perfect balance of telling you how to do things, but also why they need to be done that way. Well paced learning and doing, with a bowl I had made myself at the end of the of day, I cannot recommend this too much."

Kate Thomas reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"An amazing day spent with Dunja and her husband on their working farm in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. The day was exactly as described in the course details from: meeting the sheep; understanding the differences between fleeces; washing the fleece; carding; spinning; plying and finally leaving with a skein of handspun wool. Dunja was extremely friendly, professional and patient whilst imparting her extensive knowledge on all things woolly. We were given plenty of opportunity to take notes and photos as we progressed through the day, however I was so engrossed in what I was doing I didn't take many notes, although I took lots of photos. Dunja recommended some books on spinning and fleece choice to supplement any notes. At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable and tiring day I was able to leave with all the supplies I needed to continue practicing the skills I had learnt. I will definitely be returning to learn more."
