Karen Bywater reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"I was given a voucher for Kerry’s candle making workshop and it has been a great gift. The workshop was informative and fun. Kerry is knowledgeable, hospitable and friendly and the whole experience was relaxed, with a few giggles along the way. There’s a great satisfaction in choosing and mixing aromas. As well as making my candle there was another treat, a fabulous homemade crumble with our coffee! I can thoroughly recommend a workshop and I’m really hoping I can go back for a Christmas workshop too."

Karen reviewed: Paper Marbling Class Full Day at Portsmouth Museum

"Spent a great afternoon engaged in a one to one Ebru workshop with James. The technique is both relaxing and quite engrossing so the time flew by. By the end of the afternoon I had been able to have a go at many of the Ebru techniques and produced some pieces I was quite proud of. The atmosphere is relaxed and I think you'll be amazed at what you're able to produce, even as a beginner."

James Mouland Ebru Studio responded:

"Thanks Karen, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the Ebru Workshop you made incredible progress, your tulips were particularly impressive!"

Kelly Rogers reviewed: Paint pouring with tea & cake

"What a treat to "step inside" 35 Design Studio for an easy-to-follow course on paint pouring. It was such an amazing experience. I felt at home. And a great present to have for my birthday. The instruction given by Dina (an amazing artist, designer and all round creative being, and her mum) was an easy flow of information. I enjoyed it that much I purchased a bag of goodies to continue experimenting at home. There is a coloured guide and photos for each section, list of tools and equipment, and through discussions on the course on the best methods and acrylics to use. Dina has a hive mind, demonstrating different techniques, explaining effects and possible design capabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed myself (and the banana cake) and can’t wait to experiment and improve on my paint pouring journey."

Lindsey reviewed: Full day introduction to glass fusing course.

"I had a wonderful day at Pink House Glass. This was an amazing course and through Amanda's excellent tuition and guidance I came away with two beautiful pieces of glass art which I enjoy every day. I wish I could have stayed in her studio creating fused glass art all weekend. I'm looking forward to an intermediate course with Amanda to further develop the skills learnt with her on this day - and those delicious lunches will always be an added bonus! I can't recommend this course highly enough."

"The Green Man course was one of the best courses I have ever done, and I was amazed at what I achieved in only 2 days. Helen and John were both brilliant tutors. The course was so good that I've now signed up onto the 8 week foundation course and fully expect to carry on with stone carving as a hobby going forward. It's such a relaxing atmosphere and everyone is so very friendly and welcoming."

Can To Candle reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Fantastic insight to candle making, didn't know there were so many options to use in candle making in terms of the wax to use to make the right product. Kerry was very knowledgable and not afraid to share her trade secrets and early failures. An amazing array of scents to make use of when designing your own individual fragrance. Coffee was great, company was great, the fruit crumble was superb much better than aunt Bessie’s any day of the week. Will certainly be back for more hints and tips. Could wax lyrical all day, a truly wonderful gift to give to anyone looking for something different. Thanks for having us."

Margaret Gunfield reviewed: Powertex art journal/canvas workshop

"My husband and myself attended an afternoon session at Marie’s workshop. Neither of us are “arty” but the session was great. Marie was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely encouraging to us both to “experiment” with Powertex. We produced pieces of work that amaze everyone who sees the journals. My husband will use the knowledge gained to make items for his outdoor railway and I have the confidence at last to produce mixed media products. Thank you Marie for your inspiration and patience."

Diana Jackson reviewed: Nordic wood craft

"I travelled up from Norfolk to learn Highlands Cup making from Wooden Tom and my goodness, what a great day it was, exceeding my expectations. Tom is an excellent teacher, quickly assessing each person's needs and giving just the correct amount of guidance. His instructions are calm, clear and supportive. No matter what our skill level we all felt sufficiently challenged and finished the day happily and with a satisfying sense of achievement. His charming bothy in the woods is filled with interesting carvings and tools, some of which are available to buy at the end of the day so that skills learned can be practised at home. Tom is not only a master of his craft but enormously knowledgeable about all things wood related and kept us fascinated as he told us some of the history of wooden cup making. The icing on the cake is that the course is held in the heart of the Caingorms, filled with rich, abundant nature- meeting a surprised but relaxed red squirrel was one of the high spots. I highly recommend Tom's courses to beginners and experienced woodworkers alike."

Wooden Tom responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Diana and also for bringing your amazing fan birds....the one from Yew....wow!!!"
