Alison Clement reviewed: Needle felted puffin

"Thank you so much for such an enjoyable course. After trying to teach myself (rather unsuccessfully, it has to be said!) needle felting from kits, it was a joy to discover that I could achieve a finished product without using polystyrene balls! I was delighted with my finished dog and frankly amazed at what I achieved within the timeframe! Rachel and Rhian were fab-excellent instructors and were warm and friendly and made everyone feel very welcome. I would thoroughly recommend attending one of these courses."

2 Inspire You responded:

"Wow, thank you Alison. Your cat was easily recognisable as a cat. I am glad we were able to renew your confidence and inspire you to keep going with felting. We also now have made sure we have a supply of reading glasses available for the close up work to try and help there as well! We look forward to seeing you soon."

Andy reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I had a thoroughly enjoyable day woodturning! Mark was such a fantastic teacher, extremely patient with me! The day was a birthday gift from my wife. I had not done anything remotely similar since my days in woodwork class at school 30 years ago and Mark made me feel very welcome and at ease. Mark would explain, demonstrate then watch or be nearby whilst I 'turned'. I can see why he is internationally renowned and respected as an expert woodturner/teacher. I came away with a lovely bowl which takes pride of place in our home, love it!"

ISOBEL KNIGHT reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"My daughter and I had a fantastic day yesterday with Kate and Dave. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the willow and I made a heron whilst my daughter made a rabbit. Kate took us through step by step and all the creations looked amazing. The willow was easy to work with and I was amazed how the sculptures took shape starting with a ball. Thanks again Kate it was really enjoyable and I would do it again and recommend to anyone who wants to have a go. We were complete beginners and managed to make an amazing creation. Thanks to Dave for the fabulous lunch too."

Neil Foster reviewed: A Dry Stone Walling Workshop Bedfordshire

"The trainer,John Holt, emailed sheets before the course giving basic guidance on good and bad practice in Dry Stone Walling which was helpful preparation. He also sent good instructions on location etc. The course was very 'hands-on' which was ideal for such a practical subject. John gave us a brief talk on what we needed to do and then watched us doing it giving us tips and helping where necessary. We worked in two teams, one on the base of the wall we were building and the other on the higher level, switching over after lunch so that we all experienced both. We were given instruction in how to lay out the strings to keep the wall straight and the courses of stone even, plus the dimensions required to make the batter frame. A really good, informative and enjoyable day."

London School of Dry Stone Walling responded:

"Hello Neil - Thank you for your feedback comments. I am pleased you found the workshop content helpful. During the day, i saw how you and the group developed, choosing, juggling with stone, then a chip here and there and finding a place for it on the wall. Particularly pleased that you benefited from swapping round different places on the wall and developed your own techniques in shapeing the stone. I am sure your experience and interest will enhance further, as you begin to notice more and more DSW during your travels. Best Wishes, John"

Al Dutton reviewed: Watercolour Landscapes at the Phoenix Studio

"Wow, did I learn a lot about watercolour painting. I’ve long wanted to do watercolour painting but my initial attempts were feeble and I soon gave up. This course gives you a simple 4 stage approach which really works! I now have the confidence to progress, sure I’ll make mistakes along the way but hey that is how you learn. I thoroughly recommend George and Phoenix Studios to anyone who wants the knowledge and space to get to grips with watercolours."

"A wonderful way to spend a week learning a new craft under the masterful tutelage of Stuart and his easy to follow methods. The setting is idyllic, the workshop well equipped with everything you need, lunches and refreshments delicious and the company delightful. I had previously done quite a lot of cabinet-making but learned a whole new skill set. If that wasn’t enough Stuart’s friendly dogs are just so cute! Highly recommended."
