About the Course
I provide a mix of unique craft workshops for the public and community projects. I like students to experiment and explore - that's why I call it craft expansion! Anyone can have a go!
I'm a qualified tutor with experience in schools, adult learning colleges, community art settings, visitor centres and galleries. I run half day Mixed Media Craft and Mosaic Art classes for adults at Barton Grange Garden Centre, and other venues. Mixed Media and Mosaic classes feature the use of specialist glass techniques using tempered glass, stained glass, or vitreous glass. For example, in the Mixed Media Crash (tempered) Glass Mosaic Class, students will learn how to use images and painting behind glass choosing from landscape, abstract or the use of photo and patterned papers. A truly unique workshop rarely offered with a very high potential to dazzle your admirers! Another example, Stained Glass Mosaic Sun Catchers, uses a quicker and less accurate glass cutting method than leaded glass, which many find preferable. The 1/2 day class is usually from 12.30-4pm, but varies with each venue.
Please note that where it says course dates are flexible, and on demand, they are run as a variety of crafts throughout the year at different venues. Many classes include a certificate of completion, just ask.
- Please note that craftcourses.com vouchers are not available at the other venue, Barton Grange Centre, near Garstang, Preston.
Leyland studio is a small informal venue in Central Leyland and accepts vouchers from craftcourses.com or Chrissy's website at www.craft-class-lancs.co.uk. I attended Chrissy's glass mosaic afternoon at Barton Grange Garden Centre today.
It was an absolutely great course. Chrissy took the time to explain and show us various techniques when cutting glass, she supported us with designs, cutting difficult pieces and she was very encouraging and inspiring.
I brought home an A4 glass mosaic of a butterfly and flower, and I'm not artistically creative!
With Chrissy's tuition, her people skills and the variety of glass and beads available, I thoroughly recommend this course ... also, it was only £28 for the three hours and no extra charges for resources, excellent value for money.

Earlier this year Chrissy ran a mosaic group together with Stroke Association in Blackpool. Chrissy was extremely flexible and reliable and her genuine passion for her art ensured that the group was a huge success. Two large mosaic murals which were made by the group are now decorating the walls of the stoke unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The murals have received many positive comments from staff and patients. Looking forward to working with Chrissy again later this month :)

It was very interesting and right up my street. I liked being encouraged to be creative and the support and the freedom to do what we wanted. It was really well organised and lots of fun. It was a great way to keep occupied with a fab finished item!

I loved the mosaic class and the fact that I now have a beautiful piece of art to remind me that we are all creative and inspirational beings. It was a very therapeutic class and Christies knowledge and patience was valuable. Thank you.
