holly richardson reviewed: Copper Foil Technique Stained Glass

"An excellent day. I learnt lots of new techniques and practiced new skills. First there was cutting glass, then cutting glass following a pattern, using a grinder, copper foiling and soldering. I came away with three beautiful pieces of copper foiled stained glass. A wonderful one to one session with lots of support and helpful suggestions and tips. Great for someone new to stained glass or for a refresher course."

Dragonfly Glass Art responded:

Jane Moore reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"We had a fantastic day. Jeremy is a very knowledgable, patient teacher and kept us supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. I had a small amount of previous experience, my sister none, but we both came away with a wonderful sampler of different weaving patterns and an understanding of how these can be achieved. The beautiful studio in its lovely garden was a pleasure to work in. A great day for a beginner or experienced weaver."

Ari reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I came to this course greener than the wood we were working with, and completely fell in love with this wonderful art form. It was a perfectly balanced weekend where Peter and his wonderful apprentice Toby, guided us through the process/techniques with wisdom and an inspiring depth of knowledge. There was room for play and experimentation too and I now have a charming stool (that I'm currently perching on), that will remind me of this happy weekend for a very long time. I cannot recommend this course enough!"

Peter Lanyon Furniture responded:

"Thanks Ari - total pleasure having you on the course!"

Leanne reviewed: Beginners Candle Making Course

"I attended the Candle Making workshop with afternoon tea recently and cannot praise Paula enough. I felt the course was more aimed towards those who wanted to start their own business, however I still had such an enjoyable day and have ordered some supplies since to try and recreate the beautiful candles I made on the day. Paula has so much information to give and is very in depth, which is great if you are thinking of this as a side line business or a career. A thoroughly enjoyable day, thank you Paula :)"

Old Bexley Soap & Candle Co. responded:

"Hi Leanne, so pleased you enjoyed and that you bought some supplies to continue making candles. The extra info regarding selling will always be useful should you want to share your candles with friends and family. All the best. Paula"

"Kit arrived quickly and top quality materials included. Tutorials were easy to watch and follow once downloaded, though producing the same result was not as easy as it looked, due entirely to my lack of skill and experience!!! Great fun, relaxing and well worth the price."

Simon Aldridge reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"My much anticipated and twice COVID cancelled course finally happened. I had a wonderful 3 days in the sun carving my masterpiece under the ever watchful and always helpful eye of Lucy. It is immediately obvious how talented she is from the first few demonstrations she gives - brilliant knowledge and skills. She was aware I had done a little carving before so adapted her teaching to pinpoint exactly what I needed to know and conveyed the information in a really precise and hands-on fashion leaving no doubt what I was learning and why. Lucy is a great teacher, I felt no pressure and the days went very quickly carving, chatting and eating cake with Lucy and the other wonderful student Nick!! Lucy had worked very hard adhering to the recommended COVID precautions and we felt very safe. I have come away a much more knowledgeable and confident carver and hope to make a return visit to learn more in the near future. I would thoroughly recommend this course to everyone plus there is the added bonus of great food provided for us and the City of York to explore out of hours."

Stuart Kingston reviewed: Woodturning tuition in Wiltshire

"I had a great one-to-one day of wood turning with Andy this weekend. As a complete beginner, we started with the fundamentals of sharpening. We then covered basic turning techniques such as coving and beading and in the afternoon we worked on producing a beautiful bowl. The single day was fast-paced and covered a lot of information. If I were doing it again, I would be tempted to go for one of Andy's two day courses to give myself a bit longer to improve my technique."

Andys woodworking responded:

"Thank you for your kind comments Stuart , I enjoyed your company and glad that you found the course helpful, it is always difficult to pack so much information into a singe day Look forward to seeing you again - maybe with the wife next time ?"

Louise and David reviewed: Beginners 1-day pairs woodturning workshop

"Absolutely fabulous! We were greeted by Simon, Louise and their dog Harry, all incredibly welcoming. As complete wood turning novices, we had no idea what to expect from the day ahead but Simon gave us a great introduction, he showed us how to use a number of wood turning tools and demonstrated techniques from which we made a pine honey dipper and a sycamore bowl each…almost all our own work!!!! Lunch was a tasty ploughmen’s - fun, friendly and relaxed day. Would thoroughly recommend."

Graham Slinn reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"As a relatively new woodturner but a background in building I was looking for someone to fill in the gaps and give me some practical direction to develop my turning. Colin tailored the day to suit me and my questions, with demonstrations, hands on exercises, notes of different techniques, and examples of his work showing points he was making. I was especially interested to learn practical ways to harvest and prepare logs to build up stock for the future, something he does himself. I got guidance in sharpening my own tools on my own system and advice on tools I want to buy. No point in having the best display of tools on your wall when you only need the ones to do the job. He clarified the use of texturing tools for me and we did a bit of colouring as well. Colin is a very talented, practical and successful craftsman in his own right, which makes him a very good teacher. If anyone is thinking of getting into woodturning, a day with Colin would be the best thing to set you in the right direction ideally before you bought your gear as he would save you a lot of time and money. The best day I've had in a long time, many thanks Colin"

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thank you Graham. Happy turning!"

Peter reviewed: Bladesmithing Weekend

"My son and I had a great day. We had waited over 12 months for this and it was worth it. Graham and family were excellent teachers. The day was very informative and they explained every stage very well. Very aware of our needs and caught us just in time when we were going wrong. Eventually producing a knife that I will always treasure because I made it. Excellent day, James and I really enjoyed it. Thanks again."

Toby reviewed: Introductory pottery wheel throwing taster sessions

"Booked in for a taster pottery wheel throwing session and had an excellent time. Had no experience with pottery and no idea what to expect. Lorraine was very friendly and a great teacher. Gave use a short but useful demonstration and then allowed us to get straight into it, giving us plenty of time to have a go ourselves. Have recommend to family and friends and look forward to returning to see how our pottery turns out after being professionally finished by Lorraine."
