We look forward to welcoming you to our newly converted barn in South Lakes. Join us for a fascinating day in the world of botanical eco printing and natural dyeing. Deborah will take you step by step through the magical and sustainable process of transforming real leaves into your own unique contact prints on silk.
After creating a beautiful leaf printed scarf, the workshop will also include making a plant dyed ribbon, and teach you to make your own natural dyes.
Originally from New Zealand, Deborah now lives in the Lakes where she exhibits, runs workshops and prints commissions. She brings a wealth of experience having taught creative arts for 25 years and is an inspiration!
The Barn is big enough for 6 people to remain at a 2m distance at their own table, although if you are arriving with a friend you may sit together. Sanitizer will be available at each station, and at key points in the building. We ask you to bring a mask and to follow instructions regarding safeguarding. Your refreshments and lunch will be served at your table to avoid unnecessary contact with other members of the group.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
We will supply everything you need but you may wish to bring some leaves from your own garden or locality, or latest bouquet. If you do, fresh leaves are best and rose, geranium and eucalyptus are usually good printers, so we would especially recommend these.
You may wish to bring your own gloves to work in. We will supply some but a well fitting pair of marigolds work well. If you would like to take notes, please bring a pen and notepad. It can get a bit messy with natural dyes so wear something comfortable and not too precious, or bring an apron.
Refreshments including home cooked cakes and biscuits will be provided throughout the day, and lunch cooked in our farmhouse kitchen will give you the opportunity to discuss your projects as they progress!
We do not offer accommodation but there are several B&Bs locally, or The Heft in High Newton (just 1.5 miles away). Alternatively we are within just a few miles of Cartmel (home to Sticky Toffee Pudding), Grange over Sands or Windermere where there are a wide variety of places to stay. Why don't you make a holiday of your trip to Hare Hill Barn?
