Description

On this taster day you will learn the basics of plant dyeing on cotton and silk fabrics and yarn and wool fibre tops. We will start by a tour of my dye garden where I teach and talk about dye plants. The day will be structured to include ** the process of fibre preparation, the use and preparation of mordants to ensure long-lasting colour. ** Preparing at least one fresh dye vat with a seasonal dye plant along with avocado dye, purchased dye extracts, and an indigo vat ** how to shift colour after dyeing ** How to record as you work ** After care and storage You will take home a colorful range of samples, and I hope, an eagerness to experiment further at home. Judy will share lots of samples of her own work to illustrate how she uses natural dyeing in her own textile work.
