"I had the most amazing day at Anvil Forge. From start to finish. Spencer, our instructor for the day had endless patience and nothing was too much trouble. He was full of praise and encouragement. His experience and total love for what he was doing came through in the way he explained and guided us through the various stages. We made a fire poker to start with, which teaches you the angle at which you need to hit the metal, a vital skill that will be required when making the knife. Most of the time was spent making the knife and it was surprising how many stages are involved in its construction. You never know when you go on an experience day what you are going to get for your money. It’s always a risk. Well, there is no risk in this folks - go for it. I had no experience at all in working with metal. I can say I came home with a fire poker and knife that I am very proud of."

"I really enjoyed our fused glass workshop with Sally. The three hours flew by! Sally's method of teaching us the basics and how to use the tools certainly gave me inspiration and confidence for my starter session. I was particularly impressed with it being a very small (3) class as this allowed Sally more time to help and guide each one of us. I was so absorbed creating my two pieces that I didn't stop for a coffee break! Sally has now inspired me to book an introductory class in stained glass sometime soon : )"

"John and Sue made me very welcome, and it was a very interesting course, in a handy location (the workshop smelt wonderful too!). John gave of lots of information but didn't overhwelm with too much. There was a variety of candles to make and I particularly loved the diffuser part of the course. I left with all the candles I had made and also with lots of goodies to make my own candles for presents and diffusers to use in my B&B rooms. A very enjoyable day, thanks to you both!"

"I attended this course with my daughter who is in her mid twenties. Although i have worked a little with wood neither of us had experience in wood turning. Simon made us most welcome and after learning the safety and the basics we quickly got into the practical side of the course using the wood turning lathe and producing two items each to take home. We enjoyed the informative but relaxed atmosphere in which we were taught and have already recomended this course to a couple of other friends. Overall the experience was valuable and enjoyable. Simon showed me 'you can teach an old dog new tricks'!"

"My wife bought me a day with Colin wood turning as a present. My lathe experience was 59 years ago, and at school! One of my best and most memorable days. Colin is a great teacher, listens to his student and is careful to pitch the day at the level of the student, with enough challenge to keep you on your toes. He is very attentive and ensures you are aware of any bad practices (I was about to make many!) A really great day, I am delighted with how much I learned, Colin is a pleasure and inspiring, an excellent teacher! I am recommending his workshops to all, both friends and strangers! "Had a fantastic day with one-to-one tuition on the course last Saturday. Slim is patient, he needed to be I was very slow! and supportive and I came away with new skills and a beautiful passort holder (for when I can go somewhere!) He even took the time to compile a bespoke 'starter kit' list for me. Slim is easy company and an excellent tutor I would strongly recommend his courses even if it means travelling to Scotland!"

"I attended a one day coloured pencil workshop with Linda Hampson at the Old Kennels in September 2021. It was a lovely day with teaching taking place in the barn and lunch outside in the gorgeous surroundings. It was obvious that great care had been taken to ensure that everything was Covid safe so the atmosphere was relaxed. I am new to coloured pencils and I learnt so much. The accompanying video is a great idea because you can practice what you learnt at home. I will be attending future workshops in 2022."

"This is a very satisfying and enjoyable course to take. Tom is an excellent tutor who adapts his teaching method to the individual. He is very knowledgeable about his subject matter and shares this expertise readily. The course is online, but we were still able to communicate what needed to be seen and heard. Although I undertook this course as part of a practical research project, it has been good grounding and I am now fascinated by, and committed to making more complex automata."
